The difference between our young guys getting valuable playing time in real games vs playing in the D-League.
Well, without a star, he won't be in any big games with this team...especially for the one year contract that he supposedly has offered. You're right...not every player needs to be 26 or younger to play our youth, but it helps. Especially when we have 23 of them to play.
i like Delfino as a player and if he is cheap then great but feels like a weird fit with the current roster, not sure he can play the undersized PF position too well, if we had howard a sweet signing, with all the young kids not sure, he does have a good rep though
@ 11.72 PER I would never make that claim (best offensive player). You do realize Lin has a 19.97 PER right?
Memory running a blank on this. Is Delfino a high character guy, because the Rox could use a couple of role models in the locker room.
This is why it's not wise to judge someone on stats alone. Delfino provides a need for the Rockets. He can play the 2 or 3, he's a sound outside shooter (which the Rockets lack) and he's a gritty defender. The fact that Chicago and Indiana had (have?) interest in him says a lot. The guy can play. He has been injury-prone, but I think he would make a great fit, especially considering the price. It would be the ideal move for this team - bringing in a productive veteran swingman - but I'm afraid Morey may have lowballed him.
If he get Delfino at the right price then its a steal for our team. He's a decent wing player and one who knows how to play defense at that.
he did have a few pissing contests vs. coaching/management while in Detroit, and generally a hot tempered/charismatic guy. nothing horrible though.
I don't think Indiana had interest in him, i haven't seen anything credible re this, and it would be out of character for them. But he can play, indeed. When healthy. When non-healthy, he tends to take a ton of bad shots from 3 feet behind the 3pt line. It's almost pathological.
McHale will have to reign him in. But I actually would like the fact that we'd have two outstanding perimeter defenders in Delfino and Douglas. In situations where defense is paramount, those two, along with Parsons could wreak havoc on team's opposing 1, 2 & 3 positions.
Delfino has always been ridiculous in FIBA. He was more lethal than Ginobili during their respective Euro careers.
which is why you aren't getting him on a lowball 1 year deal. there will be 3-4 mil per, multi-year deals waiting for him in Europe.
