I felt that this award deserves its own thread (if Mods don't mind):

FWIW this is the Sporting News ROY, not the MLB ROY. The 2 have a very strong correlation, but don't always match.

Anyway, well deserved. We should have a lot of hardware headed our way.

Just my luck; I thought there was just one ROY award. I didn't know there were two, Thank You for that information.

But, like James Harden, this award was decided by the players; so that shows how much respect Correa has earned throughout the AL in basically one-half a season!

Yeah, they don't start giving away the "official" awards until after the World Series. Still, he's the AL Rookie of the Year in our books.

with that large of a gap between him and 2nd, it's hard to imagine that they wouldn't match this year.

They should sign him up to a 10 year 150-200 million dollar deal. Essentially he gets his money starting immediately. The astros pay extra for the 1st 5 years in return for 5 back end years.

Guys, Carlos Correa was in a show in Puerto Rico, a comedy show, and he was awesome.
    He was very funny.

If you want to watch the video, go to youtube and look for:

Maybe I'm looking at this simplistically, but Cliff Corcoran says that Lindor was 10 runs better than Correa defensively and that Correa wasn't better offensively by a comparable margin to be worthy of winning the award. Is +10 runs saved better than +17 RBIs?

Not that Lindor isn't deserving of the argument, I can't see how a professional sports writer could say that he SHOULD win over Correa, especially using something as flawed as DRS as your reason why.

Considering the Astros use the most shifts in the game, saying Lindor should win based on DRS is ridiculous.

If that number is accurate (which DRS isn't always) and everything else were equal, I'd say yes 10 runs saved is better. RBI's are largely a situation stat that is skewed towards players hitting in the middle of the order on better teams.

That being said, comparing those two stats as representatives of either's season is silly.
