It appears something is being found that concerns TEAM DOCTORS. And of course Boras' Doctors pull a Sergeant Schultz and see NOTHING.

At this rate, we may be able to sign Correa to be our utility player ;)

If this deal falls thru....your boy will be lucky to get a 3 year deal.

Supposedly, the plate in his ankle "moved" on a slide last season. It caused pain and numbness. The worry is that repeated slides will cause issues down the road. Twins didn't know because they hadn't conducted an exam on him since March. They were going to look at him after SF, but he came to an agreement with the Mets.

He may still get this deal, but there will be language in that contract that will protect the Mets.

I doubt the MLBPA Master agreement will allow it, but what about 6 years, $50K per PA.

While it will never happen, if it did, they'd have to have a provision to pay him for 4.X at bats for every game he is healthy enough to play but sits on the bench instead

Interesting. From a strictly medical perspective, a fixation plate shouldn’t be doing much this far out from the initial surgery. It’s meant to hold things in alignment while some sort of boney fusion or scar tissue forms. For a regular non-athletic patient, I’d say a plate “failing” wouldn’t be a big deal 10 years out, more so expected.

I guess the concern is a slide of any kind could cause more damage given whatever happened to cause the plate to get displaced in the first place (resulting in numbness and pain?)

well yea, I guess my thought was they can explant the plate if they’re concerned it would cause more damage during sliding. Though that would require rehab. Guess that in itself would put caution in offering a $300m contract.

I don’t think they would do that surgery pro-actively given that his movement is fine at the moment. It’s one of those theoretical things… like having a short UCL that may one day tear.
