I bet he doesn't and still feels some kind of way because the team did not give exactly what he wanted.

Correa still has a chance to go down as a legend. But he has to sign with the Yankees to do it. The move literally makes or breaks his place in the game.

I'd say teams that sign players to $300M contracts usually can afford them, and usually make the big purchase when they are good (i.e., a lot of the $300M contracts are still early in the contract). So, teams that spend more and have talent to win a lot of games should have a higher chance at making the playoffs and succeeding in the playoffs than the average team.

The problem with having large contracts is when the team isn't good enough, and by the time the team is good enough, the player is no longer in his prime.

According to many sources including Correa it was because he loves Juicy Lucy's and the MN State Fair..

I didn't really keep up with Correa's season with the Twins. Where does this most recent season rank to his other prime seasons with the Stros? I think he'll still get a big fat contract regardless but do you think any teams will be weary of his drop off in production?

Correa will always be one of my favorites and I am thankful for 7 seasons watching him.

He made Crane and the Astros MILLIONS by out performing his contracts. But that's something all young stars go through.

From that point teams can either try to win by paying stars or by spreading the wealth over deeper rosters. Luhnow instilled the latter into Crane's head.

The Astros will likely stay away from mega long term contracts but will pay more short term and/or find value in established players who can be signed to mid-level contracts.

That said, he has earned the right to go where he wants and make how ever much he can.

I do not want the Astros to blow their budget on Correa.

I will continue to cheer him when he's announced against the Astros and then hope he gets out.

He had a wRC+ of like 140 I think meaning he was 40% better than league average. Defensive numbers are down. Who knows why. He looked pretty good defensively when he came to Houston. he had a really good season. 5.2 or 5.5 WAR- something like that. Not MVP getting votes worthy but a tier just behind that. Equivalent to the season Bregman just had, more or less.

Of course they hurt in the out years - that's how they are designed. You get a discount now in exchange for paying more later. On average, you pay fair value - at least that's the hope. But people here have claimed that $300MM contracts never work out, only stupid teams sign those contracts, and if Correa signed a $300MM contract, he'd never see the playoffs again his career.

Sure - that's how they are designed. They maximize your window when the team is good by getting a discount and then pay that back later on when they team is probably not as good. Or they hope that in 5-10 years, $30MM/yr won't be that big a contract relatively speaking due to inflation.

edit: that said, the Mets, Phillies, and Padres were not particularly good when they signed their contracts, and 2 of them are not mega-markets. Those players helped make them good.

Isn’t philly the #4 media market? By that definition are there only 2 mega markets?

I find he has always had a knack for studio work, he's been good infront of the camera....unless he's trying to pimp himself as an expensive item to buy.

Man, people who are astros fans ragging on him is weak and lame. Dude was the guy who talked the loudest and was the leader with all the “cheating” stuff. I’ll always be a huge fan and would welcome him back

He will always be a great Astro and someday will be in the team hall of fame.

He no longer fits this team as a big $$ star

But I am hoping 6-8 years from now he comes back as a part time starter or bench player and is on another Astros World Series winning team or two or three

Not at the price he is currently demanding. We already have Pena, we should use the money elsewhere
