I keep wondering if Garcia was/or was expected to be a Super 2. Otherwise I can't figure out his Contract.

The circumstances of his call up where not expected, but that is all I can remember this morning. I have more but it will have to wait till my head clears.

He doesn't appear to have even been eligible for Super 2 with 1.083 years of MLB service time going into the season. Was it some kind of compensation for manipulating service time? A reward for Post Season? He didn't pitch THAT well.

On the real, why the **** would you go play in Minnesota anyway? He took a slightly bigger contract to go there and now he is missing out on October baseball.

Correa changed his stance and opted out for a possible return to the Astros. That yordan walk off brought back so many memories to him lol

He wants a Tatis-level 10-year deal. Nobody was willing to give that to him so he took what was, essentially, a one-year deal in the hopes of getting that huge contract this offseason. Now I'll go check the Yankees, Angels and Red Sox SS depth charts....

Tatis is crap, and honestly so is Correa. These dudes aren't game changers but whatever.

Correa back to stros. Pena and Meyers to Toronto for Teoscar and Springer (Jays eat all the money). Luhnow replaces Click. MAKE IT HAPPEN

    (that’s a joke btw)

I would say, he should have waited another year to guarantee collecting another $35 mil, but I guess he realized Minnesota sucks.

Either way, he ain't coming back to Houston without a huge discount. Pena made that clear this year.

With the shift being banned next season, I wouldn't mind getting Correa to play 2B (or 3B if Bregman was cool moving to 2B) and having Altuve DH. Alvarez slides to LF. Sure, it would bad for defense in the OF, but woo doggie would the offense and IF defense look good.

This is probably overkill, but it would be a fun team.

It would mean the Astros would not need Dubon to backup SS.

Interesting, maybe these are starting to pay off.

It’s more likely that well run teams win a lot of games, have good attendance, and have the revenues to spend more as a result of that (in addition to mega media deals).

they can also withstand bad contracts moreso than other teams.

    Yup. Update on this:

Total % of players making playoffs: approximately 40% (12 out of 30 teams)
Total % of players still in playoffs: 26% (8 out of 30 teams)

I'm going to exclude Tatis for now since he's suspended and not being paid and hasn't contributed anything. That leaves 8 $300MM players in MLB. Of those, 6 made the playoffs (75%). 5 made it to the division series (62.5%), and the one that was eliminated lost to another team with a $300MM player.

    Remaining 5 players:

    Yankees (2)
    Dodgers (1)
    Padres (1)
    Phillies (1)

It doesn't look like these contracts are destroying teams and or ruining their chances of success. So far, no team with a $300MM player has lost to a team without in the playoffs. Yankees and Phillies are the next test in their current series. Dodgers or Padres will obviously eliminate one more.

    WTF?

I can't believe he said that, he is usually more media savvy than that.

Did he actually say when I go into the Dior store I get what I want?

    In Minnesota?

That's not going to go well at all.

I knew that was the real Correa all the time.

Why should his childhood home mean anything for him wanting the biggest contract?

    How does that change anything?

This sounds so great and so terrible at the same time.

It also sounds like it would be a greasy mess, has to some very lean ground beef.

$300M contracts are a new phenomena. They hurt in the out years. Some are already hurting, many others will after a few years. And the exceptional one will work out.
