I just read that Scott Boros is Carlos' agent. As much as I HATE HATE HATE to say it, he's probably as good as gone.
Puedlfor, Just wondering if you would still like to make the case that Berkman is a better power hitter hitter than Beltran? I mean, now that he is sitting on 7 postseason HRs against Berkman's whopping 1... Or that he has hit more regular season taters for the second year in a row... I don't think there is any way you can rationalize Beltran's 7-1 postseason advantage other than to finally admit Beltran is this team's premier power hitter now.
Yeah, I've been working straight through since Thursday and was a little behind on my stats. Still, the count is now Berkman 4, Beltran 8...and for the season, Berkman 34, Beltran 46. 8! In just 9 games! Now tied with a certain Mr. Barry Freakin Bonds for the most ever in a single postseason, and in HALF THE GAMES! Are you kidding me? I am anxiously awaiting a response. Forget about it...as much as I love Berkman, comparing him to Beltran is just flat-out disrespectful to the MVP of the playoffs.
Nothing official, but Beltran has apparently spoken with some of the other Astros about taking meetings with their agents. Whether that means anything is entirely up in the air, but he is at least willing to consider the possibility.
www.senoroctober.com is available ill register the domain and host it anyone want to contribute some of their graphic and web design skills?
It is "Boras" with an "A." All anyone needs to know is that he is A-Rod's agent. If you are interested in more: http://slate.msn.com/id/105783/
I hope this isn't taken the wrong way, because my intention is in no way to undermine what Beltran has done. His performance thus far has been historic, one of the most spectacular I've ever witnessed in any sport. But let's back away before we start stressing "he's hit the same number as Barry in half as many games!" You have to remember that Barry maybe only saw 10 pitches to hit that entire postseason.
the way this guy's playing the only way we'll resign him is on pure love for this city. he's gonna command a 20+ mil/yr salary everywhere else. here's hoping that we go far enough (world series baby!) to entice him into a 13-14 mil/yr salary (which for us is possible). i just don't want him going to the sCrUBS and the evil empire
Jackson Browne's cover of "Stay / The Load Out" of course: The original goes: People stay just a little bit longer We want to play -- just a little bit longer Now the promoter dont mind And the union dont mind If we take a little time And we leave it all behind and sing One more song-- == change it to: "Carlos, stay...just a little bit longer Want to see you play -- just a little bit longer. Now Uncle Drayton don't mind. And the union don't mind. If you take a little time and sign on the line..."
Not sure if this has been posted yet, but they mentioned this website on channel 2 tonight. keep beltran
they have an idea about the 25 dollars too but want to give it to Beltran maybe we can talk ro rhem about the billboard idea that ya'll have
I doubt the Cubs can afford him either. I think they just wanted their name in the mix for their mourning fans. After all, they barely managed to sign Maddox and meanwhile the owners were crying bankcruptsy<SP>. Yes, Alou will take a dent off their salary, But as will Kent with us. In my mind, it's a 2 team race. The Yankees and us. I didn't include Boston because they have to many of their own free agents to give raises to. Randy Johnson will also be a very hot commodity this off season via trade. It will be interesting where he ends up as well.
unless the sox abandon a bunch of their free agents, i agree with you. the cubs will be letting moises, nomar and maybe even sammy go bye-bye. i think they'll be in the hunt. i talked the other day to the guy who is the chaplain for the astros bible study group. he said that carlos is there everytime, and has grown really close to the guys in that group...berkman, in particular...but also munro, everett, lane, palmeiro, and lidge. it seems he didn't have a group of guys he was real close to in KC, and comments all the time about how great it is to play with people you love. i think that bodes well for us. this is really down-to-earth guy...he's almost picture-perfect for the personality of this city.
If you do, then I will. e-mail me via the "E-mail this member" to find out how... I will show you my websites
I just think it would make a much stronger impression if the fans did this on their own. If billionaire Drayon rents an ad it's kind of ho-hum. But if a bunch of realtively modest earning fans pool their resources to show Beltran how much they want him back..... how can you not be moved by that gesture?
