Carlisle is more suited for win-now teams.

The only coach I would definitely take over Carlisle is Pop.

Pops develops his young players by putting them in the doghouse then shipping them out because he has GM powers :p

Paraphrasing From the 84 draft documentary....

Carlisle on the mavs 2011 championship run..."we ran a "flow" offense with next to no set plays. Just reacted which made us unpredictable and much harder to defend"

    Damn you Murray and McFail!!!

Okay, sure. Not a big problem. Few coaches can do it all, and any that do have a great support system staffed. Carlisle isn't good at everything. No biggie.

No, that's not it at all. The Mavs, Cuban & Carlisle simply do not place any value on drafting and developing young players which is why you see them with nothing to show for the past 10 drafts. It's been this way since the days of Don Nelson.

Josh Howard their last successful draft pick (non-trade; that they kept/played for them).

    2003; wow.

Not developing young players is a HUGE problem if you are going to stick around long term. I would still take Rick as the Rockets HC in a split second, but it is a legitimate issue.

Shots fired. Is this give-and-take to influence Melo?
