I'm just saying if he paid that much for putz Cato then he'll pay for Landry. Maybe not as much but he'll pay him.
But then we passed on matching Posey for less than half the money we shelled out to Mo Tay because we got cheap. Each situation has to be judged differently. You don't want to overpay, but nor do you want to have solid players leave for market contracts or lower. A 3 year 8 mil deal with a player option is about the max Landry could hope for. I hope about a 2 year 4 mil deal with the player option gets it done (we can use our LLE and keep the full MLE intact). One way to think about it is a 2 mil deal is what 7th overall picks earn. Would Landry as solid as he was fetch a 7th overall pick, I don't think so.
