I think Landry will get something in the $3mm per year range, hopefully less. The author to the article is clueless.
1.Don’t take this the wrong way, but Im curious why you think you have seen blatche play more than me? 2.How is that a joke? He has the same skill set as lamar odom but he plays the way you would like lamar to play. He posts up, drives and is always attacking the basket. Lamar gets criticized for not being aggressive enough. Give me a better comparison
League pass and what makes you think I'm smoking something and a homer. I'll be surprised if Blatche is in the league in the next couple of years. A better comparison of Blatche is probably the late Eddie Griffin and may he rest in peace.
he's hinting at the fact that Odom is much taller, much faster, much longer, a much better rebounder, a much better shooter, much better in the post....there aren't many similarities between them. Leon Powe and Paul Milsap are more similar players. A ceiling/dream senario could be Elton Brand but Odom, no.
Technically a team can't offer a starting salary over the MLE, but they can offer a deal that's worth an average of 8 million over the life of the deal. But they need as much cap room as the average salary. And the Rockets could match with just the MLE. See Coon FAQ for more details: http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#37 That being said, it's not going to happen. There's not that many teams with a bunch of cap room, and with Landry's knee concerns and his restricted status, nobody is going to want to tie up their cap waiting for the Rockets to possibly match the offer.
Landry cannot be payed more than your Starting PF, and that is 3 millions a year, if he is so confident on himself he MIGHT ask for a two year deal worth 6 millions but i would rather give him 3 years at 10 millions. I don´t think many teams will try to sign him, and a press conference on the Rockets saying that the knee is "a big concern" might also help other teams to stay away from him.
I'd be pissed if I was Kevin Durant or Oden and I'm making 5 mil and all of a sudden some second rounder goes off and gets 8 mil/yr. Good thing it can't happen.
The smoking thing was a joke and we all are homers, Thats what being a fan is. No way is blatche comparable to EG. Sure they have similar size and similar post games, but Blatche’s game has much more to do with him taking it off the dribble. EG may he rest in peace, never had the ability that blatche has at going to the hole. Blatche’s drives to the hope like a young LO
Sorry i thought you were talking about Landry but Blatche isn't much different, except he doesn't have size issues. Blatche is also at best a bench guy.
I won't deny that Blatche has tons of potential especially as a big time shotblocker which has always impressed me, but I think you missed the point about me comparing him to Eddie Griffin. He has major character issues that he can't seem to get past, the kid just seems to keep screwing up in a very big way that reminds me alot of the late Eddie Griffin. Being shot, soliciting sex with a prostitute, drunken driving and being irresponsible again and again with $15mm in your pocket just reminds me alot as a rocket fan of what we went through with EG.
Nobody except ESPN lists him at 6'10. Generally I've seen 6'8 or 6'9. I think most executives were assuming he would measure about 6'8.
Cap rules aside, I can't think of a precedent for a 2nd rounder showing flashes of success in such a small sample and getting a contract close to this. We'd be paying him more than Ron Artest! It's a good thing that we're only keeping him for a reasonable amount. Morey is too good to pull a Mo-Cayto deal. If he were worth (capable of getting) big bucks, that only makes him a greater asset for a trade anyway. Win-win. Still another month of this stuff....ahhhhhghghghdeathrattle.
