I'm guessing it's a minimum of 2 seasons, but he passed up our man Otis Thorpe

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/HOU/leaders_career.html

    Field Goal Pct
    1. Carl Landry .569
    2. Otis Thorpe .559
    3. Kelvin Cato .525
    4. Lewis Lloyd .525
    5. Yao Ming .525
    6. Rodney McCray .521
    7. Luis Scola .520
    8. Moses Malone* .514
    9. Hakeem Olajuwon* .513
    10. Carl Herrera .512

Obviously there's more to the story than just stats, we all know #9 on the list would destroy everybody on the entire list and if Carl played as many years as OT, his FG% probably would go down.

also another note, Lloyd and McCray were on that legendary 86 Team. that's how freaking good they were.

shout out to Carl Herrera at #10, I hope he gets Turbotax this year.

yeah that's why stats are a little deceiving. I'm sure about 90% were cleanup dunks after Steve Francis misses.

However, I thought Cato was actually a pretty good backup to Yao.

why did we let landry go again? nevertheless, i was glad he played well yesterday.

only him and scola put on a show, which was nice to see.

Obviously you have to think about what kind of shots these guys were taking to give any credit. Cato was all put-back dunks, alley-oops, and being fed under the basket when he was wide open. When you only take 5 shots a game and 3 of them are easy dunks, of course your FG% will be high.

You have to remember that Landry's first two seasons he was not a primary scorer. A lot of his scoring was easy dunks in the lane and a product of having Yao and Mcgrady. He wouldn't keep his % that high in the role that he played this year.

If Kelvin Cato is in the top 3 the list is meaningless.

I didn't mean to start a "Why Cato doesn't deserve to be the list" thread.
dude had alot of dunks as a Rocket.

Go blame Steve Francis for that.

Yeah, other than the Cato blip on there, it's a really intriguing stats list.

Money will forever be on Hakeem's mid-to-later years where he had developed his outside shot to truly crush all who opposed.

Sweet Lew at #4 is pretty good for a guard. I used to love that rainbow and man could he finish on the break.

I'm trying to understand the logic behind this statement. Is it the following?

Kelvin Cato had a high FG%.
    Kelvin Cato sucks.
Therefore, FG% is a meaningless stat.

we got rid of carl because his value was up&knee problems don't get better for long he may well live up to the hype that he has right now but more likely he will have more knee problems in the future &an injury plagued career i love the guy also but no matter how much it hurts it was the right move

Very impressed with 2 wings up there in Lloyd and McCray. Sure, they had their share of dunks, but 2s and 3s don't usually shoot that well without being able to hit an open shot.

    you're guessing?

The link to the requirements is just to the right of the word "career leaders".

I guess this is my toekn post for 2010. Too bad it had to be a simple RTFM post.

That is impressive for both Carl and Otis given how important they were to the offense when they were here.

Anyone think we may be able to get Landry backafter his contract is up with Kings? I know we may end up paying more, but he's fans favorite.
