Landry already had some of his teeth replaced from that Utah series, didn't he?

    Man, he's tough.

Nowitzki is so wild with his drives! he always drives like that to create contact. Doesn't he know he's capable of seriously hurting someone else like that? how many times has he hurt someone else when he drives? and that's gotta hurt to get knocked by those skinny pointy elbows. aside from the fadeaways, I've never been a fan of his game.

If his gums are torn up does this mean he'll be out for a fortnight?

    That's too funny. ;)

But on the serious side, I wonder if that might also justify getting him tested for banned substances. 'Twould be worth an inquiry with the league... :p

I think it's the 3rd time he's had to replace his teeth. I think he got his natural teeth knocked out in college, I'm not really sure.

    Rockets' Landry cracks three teeth

    By Marc Stein

Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki was ruled out of the remainder of Friday night's game against Houston after Nowitzki's elbow caught the Rockets' Carl Landry in the mouth as he drove to the basket early in the second quarter.

Three of Landry's teeth were cracked on the play, knocking the Rockets' forward out of the game as well. Landry was called for fouling Nowitzki as the All-Star forward drove hard to his left to set up a short jumper and caught Landry with his right elbow.

The Mavericks found pieces of two teeth imbedded in Nowitzki's right elbow and had to spend 30 minutes cleaning the gash before adminstering X-rays which were found to be negative.

Landry was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Nowitzki shot two free throws left-handed immediately after the play, which occurred early in the second quarter. By taking the free throws -- Nowitzki made 1 of 2 -- he remained eligible to return to the game.

But a return was ruled out entering the fourth quarter, with Nowitzki having already received three stitches.

Exactly. Nowitzki always flares his arms when he's driving in the lane. He probably already had teeth in his elbow.

I think Landry was wearing a mouth guard.

Landry is prettier with four missing teeth than Dirk on his best day. Didn't even flinch.

God DAMN what a man.

He was wearing a mouth-guard but they aren't designed to protect a 100mph elbow going at your teeth.

I am surprised that no one post the picture from playoff last year where Carl lost his tooth. ;)

This is not good from Feigen's twitter...

Jonathan_Feigen Rockets snap Dallas hex 116-108 in OT. Could lose Landry for a bit. He'll see oral surgeon to determine extent of damage from Dirk collision

I think he was already wearing one. I wonder if his mouthguard was from off the shelf or dentist made? From the looks of things it wasn't a double layered hockey grade one.
