I also noticed how he takes that one dribble right before he goes up for a dunk. It's almost like he stares down any nearby defender for a brief second and tells them "don't even try to jump" before he dunks. It's like they instantly know there's nothing they can do to stop him.... and this guy is a 2nd round DP Rookie!
There was this comment by Donovan, Al Horford and Noah after Purdue got knocked out by number one ranked Florida. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/20...7/03/18/closer.look.florida.purdue/index.html "They were the best defensive team we've faced," said Joakim Noah. "They were the most physical team we've played this year," said Taurean Green. Added Florida coach Billy Donovan: "Give Purdue credit ... It could have gone either way." "I give [Landry] a lot of respect," Noah said. "He's a warrior. There was not a single play when he gave up going for the rebound or for the shot. I feel bad for him because I know how hard it is to lose in the tournament."
Tonight was my first game to watch in person at TC this season. The thing that stood out the most to me was how Landry was on the floor during every time-out to congratulate and motivate the guys on the floor. I know I will catch some hate for this comparison but he reminds me of Juwan Howard with young legs and athleticism.
I think the Rockets did have the best offseason. Steve Francis and Mike James? NO. Brooks and Landry. These two are going to gel together great and i hope they become starters for the Rockets in the coming up years. They were good friends before they became Rockets too.
awesome! i did notice that he is very passionate, especially for Rookie. wow! after he grabbed the offensive board and then got fouled, tracy came to show him a little props and landry roared and bumped his chest up on tmac. i was like That was a hell of a lob that tmac threw to him down their towards the end of the 4th. I don't know how good his hands are, but they seem good to me so far. Seems Chuck will catch about 50% of the line drives coming from McGrady. He has to beam them in there so the defense can't react and if Landry and tracy can get that going, tracy will have a new favorite pf.
He may not be as good a player as today's Boozer but that is exactly who he reminds me of. He has the same kind of game as him and he plays fierce. He will learn defense, hayes didn't start off as good a defensive player as he is now. I am surprised he doesn't block more shots.
landry is the real deal and the more he plays the more i pat myself on the back for recognizing his abilities in college rockets have the PF spot locked up for a long while between scola hayes and landry.
Clyde Drexler's quote of the day "Carl Landry plays above the rim where as Chuck Hayes plays a little bit below the rim."
Idk what YallMean was referring to earlier, but it's inaccurate to use +/-'s in evaluating a player. The +/-'s reflect all the players on the floor, on both sides.
hahah..i know...chuck needs to dunk more..... that way he will miss less layups....damn....him missing layups just kills me..
Why would a team boo Hayes on the road? Because he missed a shot? I don't get your reasoning, lol. If a player comes into TC and does poorly, I doubt anyone will boo him. We will thank him.
I found some threads to explain me that. I still think that stat is overrated. All that means is if a certain lineup is more effective then others since each players +/- is affected by whoever else is on the floor with them. I just hate it when people use that stat to justify so and so player needing to be played more.
I would be surprised if anybody does. Amare is an all-star and former ROY. They are also different types of players. Landry will not be the offensive force that Stoudemire is. Landry can certainly be better than some people expected, but he is not an Amare.
