To me, he and Scola should not be traded for at least one more year. We need to see more of their ability. Anyway, we were to trade for Brand or other established players, matching salary would be big problem. We would need to include others.

I don't see a "big" like Elton Brand playing alongside Yao. Between Scola, Landry, and Hays (when there's absolutely no other option) I feel that the PF position is pretty much locked.

... I would not, however, be opposed to trading Yao for Brand, and starting both Landry and Brand, opting for a more run-n-gun type of offense... but then again, I'm not a pretentious "expert" like so many of you on here, so what do I know?

Just want to make it clear:

You want to trade yao for brand, and play brand at C?
    what a great idea!

Yeah.. don't think Yao has the footwork or handles of Ralph Sampson. (seeing that guy run fastbreaks at 7'4 was a sight to behold)

He stays healthy. That's pretty important.

    ...

Just sign him. He saved our asses in game 3. Have we not forgotten? We can spare a couple million for a 3 year deal or something. Without him, we were going to get swept. Now, even if it's a tiny sliver of a hope, we have a shot at maybe even winning this series...

landry, when healthy, is more athletic. but that is all. there is a reason why scola starts, and landry comes from the bench.

Wow? Anyone with remote knowledge in basketball would laugh at you, myself included, but I guess that makes me a "pretentious 'expert.'"

It's funny how the board way overrates young players. "Untouchable?" Seriously?

Hey, I like the youngins...but they all could be moved for other pieces.

He's a free agent at the end of the year. Does anyone know if he's restricted or unrestricted?

He's worth a lot more to us than what teams will offer us. So for that reason he's not likely to be touched....but I dont' consider him to be close to untouchable.

Yes Scola is better at creating his own shot, his only problem is he doesn't finish consistently.

well, scola finishes enough to be the starting pf. Besides, he's a rookie, so gotta cut him a lil slack.

Landry, although explosive and active at times, is still quite raw offensively and his j is more inconsistent than scola's, not to mention landry got NO post up moves at all.

    Rileydog,

I agree with you about Landry's defense. I saw it too. He is really defending the PnR well against DWill/Booz. It's like the bulb finally clicked on for him. For this reason alone, I'd love to see more of him and Scola together against Booz/Okur. Until Booz is able to back him down in the paint and post him up, we should be running him and Scola together with the perimeter guys.

I dont know what games your watching but i dont see landry having a better shot or anything that resembles a consistent post up move that makes him better than scola.

The league is learning El Skol's game and he is learning how to cope. He'll have a banner year next year.

Landry I would trade if we can get another solid piece. He's too short to play PF and is one pogo stick jump away from season-ending injury. I'd change my mind if he could play SF and the doctor's cleared his knee. If we keep him, he's a great backup, but that's about it.

Chuck Hayes, much as I love an Everyman, IMO has to go if we are to compete for the big prize.
