Damn shame... I feel bad for Mandry. He's battle-tested and has the heart of a lion, and he's surrounded by losers. Evans is a ball hog, Cuz is a hot-headed egomaniac with no respect for authority, and Westphal's dumber than a bag of hammers.

The Heat could use a player like Cousins, he's a good rebounder who plays defense in the paint. Outside of that he sucks ass at everything else: poor pick n' roll play, horrendous footwork on the perimeter, almost no offensive game to speak of outside his raw ablity to outmuscle opponents, and I hear he likes to bump into his coaches.

I don't think the Kings will give up this easily with Cousins and Reke, but Landry and Udrih on the bench surprises me because these guys are hard nosed working professionals.

That said: Brad Miller, Jarred Jeffries and Aaron Brooks for Samuel Dalembert, Carl Landry and Beno Udrih.

Landry should spend some time having cheesesteaks with Adelman.

    From November 27th, http://www.cowbellkingdom.com/2010/11/27/thompson-in-landry-out-of-starting-line-up/

On November 27th, Jason Thompson score 18 points on 6/12 shooting, pulled down 9 boards, had 4 assists (3 turns) and 1 block.

Sorry Mandry, you snooze, you lose. Literally.

Cousins is practically lighting a match to a mountain of cash, what stupidity.

Sounds like a temporary thing for Landry. That's an automatic sort of disciplinary thing to keep players accountable. Cousins on the other hand is simply confirming all the fears everyone's ever had about him. Some of these guys come into the league as overgrown children and are pampered ridiculously and surprise, surprise, they don't hand responsibility.

He has plenty of time to right the ship, the joy of guaranteed contracts.

A shoulder bump from Cousins would probably knock Spoelstra to the ground!

The key to players like Cousins is building the right atmosphere around him. A stern players coach helps here. Also, having a veteran presence in the locker room gives the young players a role model. Plenty of young, talented teams like the Kings fall apart without those things, e.g. the Clippers and Warriors.

Landry and Brooks came up with Shane, Yao, and Deke. Those vet's set the bar and conversely Landry and Brooks are solid upstanding players. I don't think Landry ever overslept in Houston.

Just think about all the young players who learned how to act like professional baseball players from Bagwell, Biggio and Ausmus. I happen to think Houston is the perfect environment for a player like Cousins.

Westphal is a tool. He coached a bunch of jerks on the Suns back in the day, and apparently fit right in with that crew. Landry shouldn't expect a fair deal from that pea brain.

The Kings even brought up Cousin's high school coach to connect with him. Sactown is a small city with a devoted fanbase and community. I agree as a franchise you need to set a good environment for your players, but at the same time there has to be a limit.

Cousins is supposed to be a professional. Nobody's putting pressure on him to succeed right away, but I think as a professional he shouldn't make waves at the very least. Even if you're still in your early twenties he should understand that much.

I'm sure Jermaine Taylor and Patrick Patterson agrees with you. We bring Cousins here and he just might end up choking Rick Adelman when he gets his fourth DNp-CD in a row.

Or end up on a string of cheap guaranteed contracts and never fulfilling his potential like Eddie Griffin.

LOL. Yeah what is wrong with the Kings? How dare they bench a role player who slept through shoot around. Westphal is making Cousins and Landry accountable for their actions.

It's not so much about 'connecting' with him in my opinion. His HS coach is probably just another guy who enabled his juvenile behavior. He needs someone to show him how to be a professional. Someone to be semi-accountable to. Otherwise its just inmates running the asylum. Sac has too much immature talent and not enough respected veterans.

I seriously doubt Adelman would treat Cousins like Taylor or Patterson. Let's not pretend Taylor is in the same league and Patterson is probably nothing more than a role player. Cousins has the skills to be one of the best centers in the league. At minimum, he'd get the playing time J.Hill got last year.
