That's nonsense, I've lived in some high crime areas and had nothing happend to me. But, when I lived a block away from the Galleria my car was broken into 4 times in two years. The idea of a bad neighborhood is a myth. Criminals are everywhere and they don't stick up other broke people. They usually follow money, I've had friends in Sweetwater that were followed home and robbed in their driveway.

It also doesn't have anything to do with time of day (remember a few years ago this happend to Mario Elie in broad daylight in the middle of the street).

Also, the guy just came home from a flight, he's amped up from playing a great game, he may not want to go right to sleep. He's a grown man and it his perogative what he wants to do with his spare time. This is in no way his fault, it was just incredibly bad luck.

I'm just saying its not a healthy thing in general if you have a habit of staying up that late on your days off.

Eventually this habit will take its toll on your body. It's critical for athlete to get 8-10 hours sleep every night because in the long run its going to have a negative effect on your health. I heard that T-Mac has a lot of bad personal habits look now he paying the price, always get injured and play poorly on the court.

But look at Deke he have good personal habits which is why he's still going strong.

Forget about the basketball aspect. I just hope he recovers and feels alright after all this. Being held up is already traumatizing enough, let alone being shot.

Glad he is ok and hope it doesnt effect his mental state terribly. I guess it goes to show rolling around for food or anything late at night isnt safe anymore.

Hope he has a fast recovery cause we really can't go without him for too long.

Thank you. That is absolutely right. Anyone who in anyway tries to make this about "why was he out so late?" or "thats what happens at 4:30 am" is a completely ****ed up person. The dudes flight landed at 12:30 AM. He probably got home around 1:30, and he just played the game of his life. He is amped up and doesn't want to go to sleep. Or realistically yeah he could've been partying a little...he is young, successful, and rich...he can't party on his night off with the next day off?

It is a very unfortunate event.

    But Carl Mandry will return.

    Dear Carl,
Thank you for the win last night. It is a shame that after sacrificing your body repeatedly and unselfishly for the team in the 4th quarter something like this happened to you. I credit you for this W, and keep you in my prayers.

Amen. Some of y'all kill me with this BS. Do you not remember your 20's? I'm sure you were in bed by noon every night when you didn't have to work the following morning (hell, even when you did).

Why was he rolling in a "bad area"? From the looks of it he got shot near his home. So I guess folks are stupid for living in gentrifying areas now as well. I didn't realize crimes didn't happen in good places...because if I were looking for someone to jack I'm sure I would stalk folks in the poor parts of town.

these days Deke only sit on the bench 99% of the time, I don't think it matters very much if he go to a club every once in a awhile. even then he doesn't stay until 4 in the morning. otoh landry play every game so there's a difference.

and how did coming home at 12 from a game get to be an excuse for staying up until 4 in the morning anyway? there's a big difference between 4 and 12.

anyway I wish landry get well soon. I know its not easy for young guys to have discipline, but I hope he learn something from this experience.

Yeah, I'm amazed how a Katrina victim was able to find Carl Landry at that time in the night and in a city as big as Houston  . I've heard of Super Cops but these guys must have been Super Thugs.
