He has no backup-to-the-basket-game but neither did Karl Malone. I want to see Landry utilize that face up jumper more often. Those two jumpers he swished from out-high in last nights game were a thing of beauty. his face up game, or the expansion of his face-up game, is what will put opponents at a real disadvantage. I would like for Landry to get all of Yao's shots but it doesn't look like Rafer will have any of that. Too damn bad, because Landry is always a better option, from anywhere on the court, than those Rafer tear-drops from the freethrow line. And there's always a fail-safe option to keep Landry here, re-sign Deke, either as a player or part of the coaching staff, they seem the best of buds.
Do you think Landry would appreciate being lowballed? He's smart, he'd know what's going on. I don't think playing him as little as possible is going to increase our chances of resigning him.
Yes, do you want to really piss him off? If you did that, he will likely bolt the first chance he get. Just hope no one will pay him crazy money based on half a rookie season, or hope Les will actually fork over some money and get into LT range. I am sure Cuban would have no problem keeping Landry if he had him.
I agree that the face-up game is going to define him as a player. THAT is what made Malone so effective--you HAD to respect that jumper, which puts a defender closer to the offensive player than he wants to be. And with Landry's quickness and hands, he can really start to create for himself when that jumper gets more solid. I don't know that I want Landry getting ALL of Yao's shots (because this is a team with more offensive weapons than we've had in previous years), but why not use this opportunity to really give the guy the chance to shine? It's not like we have any other big powerful guy to go to in the post. I like Scola, but he's much more of a finesse PF--and that's good when you can use the two guys together--but if you need someone to overpower the defender in the post, Landry is your guy on this team.
he might be the closest thing to a young shawn kemp he's our version of paul millsap with the the utah jazz he kinda has like a shawn marion spring in his jump if he had played a full season he might had given some of those other rookies a run for their money for ROY.
Might still give the other rookies a run for their money. There are 25 games left and now he's going to get significant minutes. If he starts to average say 15-20 ppg and rebound 6-8 rpg then he's gonna get major publicity for ROY.
Anybody knows where I can get a picture (good quality) of Carl Landry to create a Wallpaper? I'll appreciate any link.
Wishful thinking. The media crowned Durant before the season began. Who cares about the ROY award anyway? All that matters is that Landry gives it his all and is a beast down low for the Rockets. He'll get his soon enough.
