being a teacher is A LOT harder and more stressful than you think. You have to go by the stupid curriculums HISD made. You have the pressure of knowing your students have to get good grades on the TAKS, you deal with crazy parents, crazy students and their problems. You'd be sooo surprised at all the weird things that happen. I hear fellow teachers and other faculty members are sometimes hard to get along with. Plus, if you don't like socializing and helping out other ppl, this wont be the job for you.

I thought 1st year teachers made about 35-38k? I think they're lying LOL. my cousin who works in Pearland makes about that much. Oh and teachers don't get good benefits.

the the only reason you wanna be a teacher is cause of the days you're off and what not, then i'd really re-consider leaving what you're doing now. to be a teacher, you gotta love what you're doing.

I think it may have more to do with people not being able to get jobs in their field of study so they have nowhere to turn but teaching.
