I used to wonder that too. Then my wife made caramel (and later butterscotch) from scratch. It wass a helluva lot better than those crappy caramel candies.

yeah, caramel is three syllables... no question about it. But this makes me think of the word "realtor"... whoever the hell turned it into "re-la-tor" is probably the same ass that says "car-mul".
