Over the summer I drove around a 1997 Dodge Intrepid peice of **** that couldn't be worth much at all. I hated it. After the first couple of weeks I installed my CD Player, Infinity 5 3/4"s in the front doors and my two Bazooka 12's in the trunk along with my amp. After that I would try and drive that car whenever I can, like preferring it over my mom's new '03 Trailblazer... it makes spending time in the car more enjoyable, especially when you're somebody that really loves your music. Makes sense to me... It's easier to add a 500$ stereo to a ****ty car than sell the car and buy one that's 500$ more expensive and still doesn't have that great a stereo... Now if we were talking about tossin' some Spinning rims on a peice of **** car, THEN I'd agree with you... that just LOOKS silly...
I'm not so sure they are better without having listened to them, but eXcelon is Kenwood's top of the line speaker, the warranty is twice as long, it has a wider frequency range, a claimed "high end" crossover, better power handling, and its more efficient.
If you're in Housotn, I've got a whole setup I'd be willing to sell you; cash of course. Two 12inch Sony Xplode subs with box, ready to go. Four Pioneer 6x9's two of them three way speakers. A pioneer head unit, I can get the exact model if you're interested but it's sweet. Two Sony Xplod Amps, one for the highs and one for the subs along with all the cables you'll need for setup. I pulled it all out of my old car before I sold it and never installed it in my new ride. Give me a shout, I would be willing to part with it for $550 if you're interested.
talk about putting a great stereo in a POS....Ive got a couple of kids out here in my neighborhood that drive crappy old beaters that couldnt blue book much over $500, adn I swear to god they must have $1000+ worth of stereo equipment in them cars... its funny as hell listening to them drive by thiking they are all studly and stuff while their trunk lids are rattling up and down with the force of the booms....the rattle from the car parts is louder than the stereo itself. At least when I drove POS cars with good stereos, I managed to put together choice cheaper components that sounded great and you could hear from a block away......but cost me under $300 total. btw...in answer to the initial question....I always stick with Kenwood or Pioneer...but I have heard good things about the Inifintys...otherwise, Pole has given you the advice I would offer...listen to him..
Thanks for the offer, but I'm afraid that's way out of the price range. Just want to spend around $50 - $75 (ballpark) to get my speakers replaced. -- droxford
Go to Radio Shack and buy a $15 dollar set of replacements ~ they'll sound better than the originals. A stock gm car stereo has maybe 5 watts of power so why waste the money?
Bose sucks!! They are way over priced for the sound quality that they provide. Bose is all about marketing, not quality!!!!
