Make sure and clarify "federal emission warranty" and don't let them confuse it with "factory warranty".

The $100 should be waived if it is deemed to fall under the federal warranty.

Anyway, there is a mechanic I recommend heavily here in NW Houston (jones/1960 area) if you are interested in seeing him.

No I was just adding my two cents. My mother's problem used to be ther gas cap but now that isn't the case. What's an oxygen sensor for?

Talked to VW again and they said that the EVAP solenoid is not covered under the federal emission warranty. Only the computer and the catalytic converter. I guess they wont budge. But I will email you later codell to ask for that mechanics information.

what a O2 sensor does is detects the amount of fuel in your exhaust...ie...detects the fuel mixture so the computer can adjust the amount of fuel going in.

if your car is running too lean(not enough fuel) it adjusts the amount up....and vise versa

    AutoCare Unlimited

    One on 12600 Briar Forest 77077 281 589-1000

    and another on 6640 Louetta Spring, 77379 281 376-6000

I have had only TWO mechanics that I have completely trusted. Fred is one of them. They have saved me a ton of money.

DO you top off your tank?

My check engine light came on last year and after about $600 worth of guessing by mechanics and not having it fixed, somebody said to stop topping off the tank when filling up. A week later the light went off and hasn't come back on since.
