The problem with those WRX's, EVO's and other turbo-charged 4-bangers is that most people don't know how to drive them properly. Everyone I've raced against could've made a better showing against my Red Dreadnought if they simply knew how to drive. A Vette is easy to launch: apply brake, tromp the go pedal, and release brake to proceed forward. No revs neccessary. But with the EVO's, WRX's and other turbo fours, you must rev the daylights out of it and with that AWD drive, you are unable to brake torque. Small wonder why none of them can keep up with me on the drag strip or on the interstate. I find it fun when a pack of them (they always travel in packs) happen upon me all alone on I-85 near ATL after a night in Buckhead and they challenge me because I drive a Porsche. Nothing frosts them more than seeing my 17-year old car leave them as if they were standing still. Now that is fun. Now as for Supras, they are wicked fast and their engines are damned near indestructible. Only problem is that they didn't make very many of them, especially the turbo cars, so they are very valuable.
I always loved the 928. When I was growing up, my father had a succession of them (until Porsche started making a factory turbo again in 1986, then he only had those, including a sweet 1988 factory slope nose in gun-metal grey), but yeah, I've heard they are extremely expensive to keep up in this day and age. Interestingly (to me anyway), Dad finally tired of the Porsche scene (after, I believe, 19 of them over the years) and now drives a Barracuda (I don't remember which year) as his daily driver. I've never modded a car, personally. I just get what I like (and car afford) from what the various factories offer. It's a rare case when I even change out the stereo. I guess I'm just boring.
i sold my samsung v205 and bought a 1994 mercury tracer and still had 75 dollars left to buy a 8390... yep i spent a grand total of 325 dollars on my tracer.... and im trying to get a 1.9 engine in it coz mine has 150 K on it.... if any of u guys hear of a tracer/escort engine holla at me pls... anyone wanna take on my price for MY car
I had to have the car when I first saw the 928 in Car and Driver back when I was in school. It was every schoolboy's bored car doodle come to life. I saved up for about 10 years and I finally bought a slightly dinged example with a motor that had seen better days. After 10 years of saving followed by 7 years of hard work and thousands of bucks, the Red Dreadnought is worth every penny. I love that car and wouldn't trade it for anything and I do mean anything.
i got a '94 toyota mr2 turbo. i had a full trd body kit, installed the doors that when you open, it goes upwards (( the ones you see in the lamborghini murcielago and diablo )). 18" rims, air intake, headers, port polished, new performance computer chip, dual exhaust, 300zx headlight conversions, apexi stabilizers, apexi performance suspension kit, tachometer with shift light, new carbon fiber shift knob, trd steering wheel, recaro bucket seats with 5 point seatbelt, customized sound system, oil cooler, performance transmission.. so, you might as well i kinda spent more for the parts then to the car. but, i love this car to death so, you can expect that i wont ever sell or change my car rather than this baby. all of my blood, sweat, and hardwork goes to this car so yeah, its really treated like a baby.
I hear you sacrifice some aerodynamics and coefficient of drag in favor of more stability due to the added weight. Watch out for understeer due to the added weight though. You may need to get Brembo's to get better stopping after a mod like this. Great cheap mod anyone can do with a nice afternoon and about 5-6 hours. Good job.
