You could get like a 07-08 mercedes c300 or infiniti g35 with like 5,000-10,000 miles for as much or less than that.
I concur with this method of buying. And the best way to open the email connection with all dealerships is to register at carsdirect.com. Do your research - know what the invoice price of the car is and try to get as close to that as possible.
Great site to see what Accord owners spent. http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.ef7c304.ef006d2

I have an 08 Honda Accord Coupe. It's only 4 cylinder but it's all I need. I was lucky enough to find one used only 10k miles for $19,000 from dealer after talking him down. Man, it's a sweet ride. Trust me. You can't go wrong with it. Especially if you're getting leather w/ V6. I get compliments on mine everywhere.
Did you consider the Mazda 6? It basically is the same underpinnings of the Fusion but a lot better looking inside and out, and with more room inside. I think the new Mazda 6 is the most fun of all the sedans out today.
Well, if you aren't dead set on buying a brand new car (which i don't know why anyone would be) you can get a 1 or 2 year old Fusion for much cheaper. Probably the only situation where bad resale value can work in your favor. Other than that, you might want to check out the Mercury Milan or Lincoln MKZ.
If you're looking solely at past/recent reliability, the 6 falls far behind the Accord. They've recently redesigned it, so I don't know if that's going to have a bearing one way or the other.
It's closer to the bottom from what I recall. It always depends on what model, too. Research forums for these cars for common problems people are experiencing. Don't just jump at ride and looks. Also on these forums, you'll find what people are paying, what dealer they're getting those prices from, what deals/discounts are out there, etc. Don't go to the dealership blind when dealing with pricing. FYI I think the upcoming 2010 Buick Lacrosse will be a nice looking car.
Yea...you either get two problems on the car...instead of just the one...for the first 36 months of ownership of the car....or you get two part recalls on something on the car instead of one within the first 60 months. It's pretty much guaranteed. But, your helping the American automaker instead of the foreign automakers. Who cares if you have to spend more time at the Ford Service Department? You are a patriot who is helping this country by buying Ford.
i think the invoice on a accord coupe w/ v6/leather is around 25-26k. depending on other options, if you can get it for 27-28k i think youre getting a good deal. and just say no to mazda. arent they owned by ford?
