Oh man....it has been a while hasn't it. The "crew" doesn't really exist anymore. I'll fill you in on the highlights. What time you gonna be up there?
I'm here right now. Been here since 10 this morning and i will be here till the end of the Rockets game for sure.
Exactly...that's my thinking as well..unless someone really hates me and wants to follow me somewhere haha.
That is a sweet ride. I always liked that body style of the 5-series. My next car is going to be a 530i, so I might just have to buy used as well.
With luxury cars there is such a high rate of depreciation for the first few years that's it's almost stupid to buy a new luxury car. Buy it used after a few years and you save so much money that it's not even funny. Most of my good friends buy and sell cars and they always buy luxury cars a few years old for amazing low prices. It's hard to imagine that the car i got's sticker price was 61,000 at one point.
Stack, you're Persian, right? If not, then my bad... ...but all Irooni's must have a BMW, its in the rule book.
It hasn't been mentioned yet, make sure you purchase the extended warranty before your warranty is over. If it isn't already over and it's too late.
Great car and even better deal. The only problem is the transmission. I read your reasoning so I'm not saying it was the wrong choice for you but for me I will never buy anything that's not manual. It's not about the speed to me either...it's about the feel. I'd rather have a manual with 250 horsepower than an auto with 300 just because it's more fun to have that extra control. Fortunately I don't have to settle though. Ihave a manual with about 365hp already By the way, I was looking for the specs on the 540i Sport because I was not familiar with them and I came across this site that has some extremely detailed info. It even tells you that the odometer generally runs 2% high, and that the digital clock runs 15 seconds fast per month or something like that lol. It's speaking specifically of the 2003 model but I do believe they're the same generation, right? Anyway, thought it might be a good thing for you to bookmark. http://www.kenrockwell.com/bmw/540performance.htm Enjoy the car man. Getting a new ride is one of the best feelings there is EDIT: Hmm...actually it looks like your generation is 1997-2002 so this info may not be as accurate as I thought, but maybe it can still be useful.
Oh yeah i know the feeling of a manual. All my cars have been manual. I had a 280zx turbo then a accord coupe manual. Not only the feel, just the convienence of being able to roll the car and start it hahah...better gas milage and other stuff. They are completly different, at this time i couldn't really be too picky when you find a car in this condition and everything that it has and ive been looking for. If i was going to buy it brand new then i would have gone with the 6 speed manual. The generation changed on the 2003 model so they are a bit different.... What car are you driving right now?
Good deal.. Nice car.. Do you think one can find better deals in the newspaper classifieds or on the online searches?
Honestly you can find great deals online. My friends strictly sell on ebay. You can find the same deals in the paper but it takes time looking for them. If you look on the net on places like auto trader you can find good deals. Always look for private sellers. Buying from a dealer is a waste of time. If you look up the car i got on a dealer lot you will easily pay 5 grand or more what i paid.
Daily driver is the same old Honda Civic auto that my parents got me back in high school. For fun I drive my '94 300ZX Twin Turbo manual. It's got a couple of extras on it I got it a few years back before I stopped working to focus on school, so no I'm not a baller with 2 cars or anything lol. I actually had to get quite a bit of help from my dad to pay it off. The loan was only for 2 1/2 years but the payments were...umm...large This picture is from last time she was detailed...which was a loooong time ago lol.
Damn Khalil! You lucky b*stard! Seriously though, congrats, that's a GREAT deal on a great vehicle. There is nothing like BMW, the only thing that tops it is a Porsche, but that's not very practical, so the Bimmer takes the cake. From the pics, it looks like it was extremely well-kept, it looks almost brand new.
I learned how to drive stick on an m3. Car is an absolute epitome of smooth handling. They have the nicest transmissions of all the cars I've driven stick.
Only problem with the M3 and M5 is the fact that the factory clutch is not strong enough to handle the power and torque in the cars and goes out. Always want to eventually upgrade the clutch if you can. I do like BMW stick shift though.
