You'll like speed until you have insurance you can't afford from too many tickets...or you kill somebody in an accident. I have friends who did both. They have been changed forever.

I was lucky...I learned from their mistakes instead of making my own.

Post the important things like the engine if you are concerned about performance.

damn, I wish I had it that easy when I was 17. I still havn't owned my own car and I'm 20:eek:

As for your choice, I don't know, Mitsubishi's are a problem maintnence wise I have heard. I didn't know that pontiacs were still cool either. Anyways, speed shouldn't reallly matter because when can you ever let loose and go full speed here??? Well, you should get a car that meets other needs. Those cars are gonna cost you a pretty penny on insurance, not because of their price, but because you are a teenager in a sports car and though I never believed that the #'s were so high of teens in sports cars causing accidents, you m.ay have changed my opinion. Do you have any friends who you are gonna want to give rides to. A sports car won't be helpful. Why are you getting a 2000 by the way, you can get a new Mitsubishi for $0 dollars down and no payments til Jan. 2004.

if you want a sweet car - it's gotta be "your baby". it stupid to speed like crazy all the time. put money into the engine - and save it for the speedway. I'm 18 and i have a '84 Corvette...and I would never do anything that could ruin it.

I like the way both of them look in a convertible, although the Mitsubishi is more ricer and the Pontiac is more neck - which image fits you better? Personally I'd take the Pontiac because it's rarer.

As far as insurance goes, I'd get a solid quote before I bought either one. You may find that having a cool car might be all that you can afford and having a cheap car would allow you to do more fun stuff.

Thus ensuring that eventually you will do something that will hurt both your car and somebody else.

If you are concerned about afforsing insurance...don't speed so much. It will cost you in the long run.

Truer words have never been spoken. I am a 24 year old adult who still has his name under his parent's for insurance purposes (paying them rather than getting my own account) b/c of past discretions. If I were on my own, I'd be paying nearly $600/mo. for insurance alone. What I pay now is pretty bad as well, but nothing close to that figure.

My bad, from your first question, you said "I have to choose between. . ." I just jumped to conclusions and guessed that meant somebody had two lined up for you to pick from. Still, you really ought to consider the insurance and it sounds like you may need it if you do race your car. Seriously, you are gonna get royaly screwed when you walk into any insurace office and tell them that you are a 17 year old with a sports car and a reckless streak.

any particular reason both cars are 2000 models? Like someone mentioned, Mitsubishi has had a 0 down 0 payments for a year offer for a couple of years now.

I was actually considering selling my car and picking up a Mitsubishi just to stop making payments. Then I realized that car companies usually need the name of an employer to give you that kind of deal. doh!

Get the Bishi dude. Trans-Camaro Birds suck. They stopped being cool (along with porno mustaches) in Smokey and The Bandit Two. As a pseudo-adult (recently 30) I can tell you that if you want to "stand out" amongst your peers it doesn't make a f4ck which one you get. But if you don't want to be laughed at by old farts get the Bishi.

    chance

PS-IF you go with the Trans-Camaro Bird make sure you grow a long and impressive mullet and get some fake gold chains to sport.

Grab that Mitsu and forget about the discontinued Fireturd. You'll drive the Mitsu twice as long before it blows up, and the Mitsu has better nicknames, Pon or Tiac just doesn't work.
