Question: Do you live in a low crime area? I can't believe a cop in Houston would invest so much time and energy into what amounts to just a fender bender.

Not taking anything away from your situation, but it seems like this cop is treating it like a double-murder investigation instead of a fender bender.

THAT is what my insurance company says to do, so it must not be against the law. (I didn't even know that you're a lawyer now) Do I need to take a picture or the card for you?

The cop in charge of traffic accidents and whatnot came over tonight. I had massive amounts of evidence stockpiled for him. He said he didn't need to see it unless he thought it was me. I had two alibis there just in case, he said he didn't need to see it. I had written down everything that I did in a 6 hour time span, and at what time, he didn't want it.

So, he goes up to look at my car, and is surprised, much like me, that his cop was "99% sure" I did it. He agreed with me, that the residue that the cop and the truck owner said was paint, was not in fact paint. He agreed with me that it was bumper sticker residue. (It looked like a dealer sticker). He walked around my entire car asking what damage the other cop saw that led him to believe that it was me. I said that I wasn't sure, as I had only had 3 hours of sleep when his cop showed up inside my house illegally.

So, there was a truck parked where the truck that got hit had originally been. We showed him where that truck's owner lived, and he knocked on the guy's door and went up and asked him to move it. He comes down before the guy, and goes, "There's some Cheech and Chong action going on up there," but never made mention to the guy about it.LOL

So, the truck owner parks his truck where it originally was, and I back my car out, as close as I can get it to the dent in his truck. My bumper just barely reaches the absolute bottom of the dent. Nowhere near the scratched paint. A good 4 inches off.

    CASE CLOSED.

I turned around, and promptly told the guy, "Man, I'm sorry your car got hit, but like I told you, I was not here. I would not lie like that to you."

Turned the other way to the cop, and said, "Thank you," and left.

That guy feels like an idiot.

Glad that stupid non-existant beef was squashed.

Lesson learned: don't talk to authority figures while sleep deprived. :p

I still can't believe the cop put that much effort into all this. It sounds like an episode of The First 48, only, instead of a murder, it's a fender-bender. :D

Glad it all worked out, though. Always good to see justice prevail.

    Off topic:

There was a car accident on McGregor this morning. I've never seen a tow truck get jacked up before. I wonder if it was racing to the scene of another accident and ended up causing one. Forget ambulance chasing lawyers, how about the real ambulance chasers?

    ^ Nice.
The card doesn't say "EVEN IF IT IS YOUR FAULT." Take a photo of it. Post it. ;)

I'm not a lawyer... t's just... just... being a MEANIE if you know dang sure it was your fault, everyone saw it, and you STILL won't admit it. C'mon, now. No wonder insurance companies charge so much.
