We didn't go all in on Harden, we maintained flexibility to have a shot at Dwight, which worked out.

When Smith became available, he chose us, to play with Dwight, because we had him, because we signed him, due to having flexibility.

Not the best individual example, but we gave up very little to have the space to sign Smith. Morey keeps flexibility and cap space to be able to make moves like that or keep the ability to always have an option to improve the team.

Carl has a history of bashing Morey. I think we all know the history/context of the past few years.

We didn't need any cap space to sign Smith, it was via a vet minimum exception which every team had. We just had to make a roster spot for him, no?

That's a stretch, but OK. But didn't Parsons recruit Howard? Sure it wasn't McHale (Player Coach) winning over Josh, too. No matter where Josh went there would have been something fans could say that attracted him to them.

It's good that we have Josh Smith. Good guy to have for his price. But so what? He's just helping this team to another 1st or 2nd round exit and then most likely leaving in the summer because somebody else will offer him more money while Morey keeps Cap and Ass over him.

We are lacking basketball minds in the management and coaching department.
We need to put pieces together and make them work towards a championship. It feels almost as if we were side tracked to get assets and finding next unknown player at a bargain price.
Looks like another lost season with misdirections.

I'd have loved to get some trade deadline help, but this thread is dumb.

If you are complaining at least explain which move youd do? It was a pg sellers market, anyone with a pg traded got great return (outside of the bucks). Suns even got an ok haul considering dragic threw them under the bus.

Seeing what teams got I bet the nuggets were asking for at least 2 1st rounders plus dmo and maybe more for lawson, would that have really put us over the top?

Till the dwight knee situation is more known rockets are in a bind not much you can do with 20 mill sitting out.

They dont care about any of that. They want a pg and Morey didnt sell the farm for one so he is a bad gm. That is as far as they look into it.

Good lord sports fans are so ridiculously short-sighted and have mind-bogglingly poor memory.

Morey is doing great. It is incredibly difficult to build a championship team, and involves not only smart choices from your GM, but a LOT of luck as well. We are very close, and much closer than most teams would be given our recent past.

Whenever the Rockets lose a couple games, you'd think we were the Knicks or something. We've had a winning team for like 30 straight years, barring injury seasons, including two championships. We're spoiled as hell.

Harden needed help, and our genius gm did nothing to help him in the backcourt.... hey how about dj augustin... pg's were flying this deadline, and morey was concrned with dragic

Pay the necessary price for Dragic. Miami got him for a couple of lightly-protected and non-protected 2017-19 and 2021 picks. The Rockets could have beaten that if they are really trying to bet on Harden and Howard's prime years.

Take the risk on Dragic re-signing. He won't be the first guy Morey pursues that wants no part of Houston-- Bosh, Melo, Dwight.

These guys just wait for ANY reason to bash Morey/Mchale. Us being 4th in a VERY tough west WITHOUT Howard for pretty much most of the season and TJones doesnt mean anything to them.

It doesn't look like MIA really outbid Morey (a 2021 1st round pick, lols, as one of the picks).

There a very good chance PHO just wanted to get him out of the West and not make us better. And Dragic might not have been convincing enough wrt re-signing with the Rockets. He might have scared us away.

Cap space no, flexibility yes. Again, we gave up very little to get Smith. Not the best example again, but you have to admit in viewing the trade deadline in it's totality we picked up some good depth in Brewer, Smith, Prigiono, and McDaniels.

    While at analogies

We had Broadwalk in Harden and all we need is a Park Place to charge premium. Instead, we kept Baltic Avenue in Bev and get ourselves a Mediterranean Ave in Pablo. We are wasting Broadwalk.

Dragic made it pretty clear he wouldnt sign. You still want to seel the farm for a rental. How does that make any sense? And if we paid the price to get him and he walked im sure you would make plenty of other threads bashing Morey too. It 20/20 hindsight with you people.
