whose celebrating? a win is a win regardless of whose playing or not. hou is missing dmo and bev yet that's not brought up.
The shots weren't falling and Harden was not usual himself until the 4th. Now, I will say this, with Harden, the ball just stops and too much dribbling. It works in the regular season, but are not working as well in the playoffs. That's all. It is what it is. We can get lucky, that's why it's called a game.
if people aren't expecting a difficult series, you might as well not watch because this will go back and forth and probably to the last games. one thing's for sure, last year's team wouldn't be able to crawl out of a double digit hole like last night and come out with a W.
People should stop being so pessimistic. The Rockets considerably outplayed the Clippers in three of 4 the 4 quarters. The 2nd quarter is the one they didn't, and Jordan Griffin had their best quarters in he series. Griffin was on fire and Jordan was rejecting things at the rim like a prime Wilt Chamberlain. After that psuedo-flukey 2nd, they got back to dominating. People are looking at Chris Paul being out in the most unrealistic way possible. We ALL know basketball is not a game of 2 + 2 = 4. It's algebraic. Equations, matchups. Is Chris Paul an outstanding player? Absolutely. He's my favorite player in the league. But inserting him in the lineup instead of Rivers and saying, "Oh, we'll lose by 50 now" is simply not realistic. There way too many variables, hence, algebra. If basketball worked that way, the Brooklyn Nets would have ran away with the NBA title in 2014. This is a completely different series with Paul. It's impossible to predict either way.
We won the game. I'm ecstatic. It's a playoff win, those are always hard to come by. We need to get one win out of the two in LA (game 3 and game 4). I don't care if we win by 20 or win by 1, I don't care if Harden looks like the MVP or if he looks like he is shell-shocked, I don't care if we look heartless and not hustling and if Kevin McHale sits on the bench the whole time and doesn't say a single word the whole game- we just need to get one win in LA. As long as we do that, we will be in good shape. The series would be tied 2-2 and would basically be a best of 3 at that point with us having homecourt advantage.
I'm happy for the W & the squad being relatively healthy. Can't believe today's news that Wall's hand was shattered.
i see a series going at least 6 games. possibly another game 7. but any game 7 is a toss-up. in the past decade, game 7 has not been done us any favor...
I really try not to engage in this kind of thread. It's pointless and stupid. b****ing about a win over a very good team, with or w/o Chris Paul. Many constantly forget that we went 2-2 against them this season while they had Paul and we didn't have Howard for any of the 4 games. Who seriously gives a f*** how we win as long as we win?
This win is like that Iron shot from 160 yards out where you top the ball and hit a worm burner rolling down the fairway. As you curse it and throw your club down it keeps rolling and all of a sudden it rolls up on the green next to the flag and you get a tap in birdie. You go from "What a crappy shot" to "I'll take that!!" The scorecard after the round doesn't differentiate between a worm burner or that you knocked it stiff right at the flag. It just reads BIRDIE. 5 days from now, we will remember back that we won game 2 and not how we won it. Hopefully the scorecard will read up 3-1 and how we got there is long forgotten.
Wonder if the fans of the other seven teams that are down 1-1 in their series are as torn up as we are.
People seem to think the Rockets only out played the Clippers starting midway through the 4th quarter. 1st Quarter: Rockets 35 - 24 2nd Quarter: Clips 41 - 21 3rd Quarter: Rockets 27 - 20 4th Quarter: 32 - 24 The 2nd quarters have been bad this whole playoffs. Harden should sit final minutes of the 1st quarter and beginning of the 2nd instead of missing half of the 2nd quarter.
