    Shutter Count is 6,275

See below. I used 40D Shutter Count form Astrojargon to get this info.

hvic (and others), How does the shutter count play into buying this or other cameras?

My cameras probably already went around the horn... I'm wondering how you determine a good or bad count and what it affects as far as resale value.

The shutter count is the number of pictures that a camera has already taken.

    Model--------------------------------------------- Rated Shutter Life
Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS / 1000D ------------------not disclosed
Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi / 450D--------------------not disclosed
Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi / 400D---------------------50,000
Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT / 350D----------------------50,000
    Canon EOS 50D ------------------------------------------100,000
    Canon EOS 40D -------------------------------------------100,000
    Canon EOS 30D--------------------------------------------100,000
    Canon EOS 20D--------------------------------------------50,000
    Canon EOS 5D---------------------------------------------100,000
Canon EOS 1D Mark III ----------------------------------300,000
Canon EOS 1D Mark II N----------------------------------200,000
    Canon EOS 1DS Mark III----------------------------------300,000
    Canon EOS 1DS Mark II-----------------------------------200,000

    According to www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Canon-EOS-1D-Mark-III-Digital-SLR-Camera-Review.aspx

So as you can see from above, the Rebel XS (the one I'm selling) is not disclosed. But if you compare it to a similar one, the Rebel XT, the Shutter Life is approximately 50,000.

At 6,275 counts, you've got a long ways to go.

This is a good deal for a lightly used camera I've used strictly for vacations and family outings.

EDIT: Whoops! I guess I copied and pasted the information incorrectly. The shutter count life should be rated at 100,000 for the Canon Rebel XS . This is at the end of page on the link above

Where do they get these numbers? Does Canon or the manufacturer release these to the public?
I'm not asking what the count means. I know what it measures. I know what the shutter life is... but... I want to know, so if I heavily used a camera, is it worth HALF of what I'm asking in return as far as monetary value?

Like, for example, where does it affect price? Percentage-wise, or does it have little to no effect on the price?

I have a 7D and I probably already went around the horn twice (20,000)... so does this mean that I should sell it for my price x .5 or .2 ?

The numbers they have on that image you posted may not be the accurate ones, or some cameras may keep on working even well past that number. You know?
