wow, i can't believe the backlash against this woman. did anyone take the time to think maybe its an act? maybe she just wants the image to boost her appeal amongst the 18-35 male demographic? i have no qualms with her or her actions. If she's making money, the more power to her.
Where did I say that? Quote me. If you can't read, don't respond. It's not that difficult. The rest of your drivel is mindless rambling based upon your assumptions of statements I never made, so I'll overlook them.
I can respect your opinion on that. By the same token, don't others have a right to say it's wrong? I really don't condemn her for what she's doing, I just don't think I "agree" with it. If anything, I think those who fall for it are more laughable.
oh, absolutely everyone has the right to say they dislike her here... i was just stating my shock at the number of people who have issues with her... i guess i never really thought about it, thats all
Christina really helps the image of women who want to be taken seriously and not viewed as a sexual object. Christina manages to rely on her intelligence, integrity, and talent to sell records. Christina has shown time and time again that she's willing to take a deep look at important issues, and isn't afraid to make a stance on issues that really matter. Go Christina!
Come on now DoD. You didn't have to say it exactly as I wrote it. It seems obvious you feel that way since you can "call a good looking woman disgusting for the way she acts" and that you believe "Christina is naturally good looking, but she's absolutely disgusting to watch with her looking like a damn dancing cadaver in her latest videos." If she is disgusting for acting in a video, it's just logical that she'd be disgusting for her real behavior at the club. As for the rest of my post, go back and read it. I made one assumption, which was that you likely participated in acts worse than dancing, kissing and comparing bodyparts with a someone you met in a club.
Why should women pursue some puritanical image? Should they keep that stuff 'behind closed doors?' Taking control of her own sexuality, rather than submitting to preset gender stereotypes, IS a step forward for women in general. Personally, I'm not a Madonna fan, but she is a freakin feminist hero for flaunting her sexuality and she probably SHOULD be. And who do you think this generation of women look up to? Uh, should she be campaigning about land mines or something? What are you talking about? How old is she anyway, 21? Maybe exploring her sexuality IS an important issue. Maybe defying male driven stereotypes of what are and are not 'proper actions' for a woman IS a stance on an issue that really matters. Or maybe you think strip clubs should only be for male entertainment, rather than an equal opportunity setting.
Guys, once we learn to accept her for what she is, we won't be quibbling over what she does...That being said: I see her as eye candy. Some candy is better than others. We all like candy to some extent, but we don't like all candy. We know that candy is not good for you, but for some reason, we still sometimes crave it. If it was given to us, most of us would take it and at least taste it. Then, some of us seem to think that they need it, although we all know that candy is not necessary to survive. Then, some of us can simply unwrap candy, but when you actually see what it looks like, can discard it. Whatever the case, candy is just for pleasure...no more, no less.
hey rockHead... here's another separated at birth for you. Christina and Dee Snider of Twisted Sister <img alt="30.jpg" src="http://www.barkersworld.com/images/30.jpg" width="460" height="339" border="0" />
Actually that's illogical. You're assuming that simply because I think someone looks bad or I hate how they dress, this somehow equates their actions to being bad. You're trying to fit your response to an argument I never made. I think Mother Theresa was butt ugly... she was still a beautiful person and an honorable human being. I think Christina Aguillera looks nasty in her videos, and I don't care for her fashion, either... what she does in a nightclub is her business - I've got no beef with that really.
Pimp, No offense to you or to DoD, but in reading DoD's posts here and from talking to him in chat, I have a very hard time imagining him doing things that are more disgusting than grabbing the breasts, kissing, caressing another woman like Christina did. If he has, then that destroys all the mental images that I have of him! For the record, it is DoD's business of what he does with his personal life. I am not going to say he is right or wrong for doing whatever...just found it humorous to imagine that image.
I am finding it very hard to pinpoint what is disgusting about that. Call me crazy, but....... (not crazybutt)
I always liked this thread so I am bringing it back. Sorry to those who are bored with it. I just have this hunch that we have not covered all sides of this "Christina".
11/11/02 Aguilera finds more stuff to reveal Christina's world By Jill Smolowe PEOPLE Monday, November 11, 2002 Posted: 2:57 PM EST (1957 GMT) (PEOPLE) -- Until recently, only Christina Aguilera's intimates knew the details of her hard-knock childhood as the daughter of a tough Army sergeant Whenever things got too ugly between her mom, Shelly, and her dad, Fausto, Aguilera had a ready recourse. "She'd run upstairs and put on 'The Sound of Music' -- that was her favorite video," says Marcie Reilly, a friend since seventh grade. "Somehow, singing would come out of it, and that's how she'd escape all the fighting and the horror." On her latest CD, "Stripped" -- a follow-up to the '99 debut that earned her a Grammy Award and a Barbie-doll image -- Aguilera, 21, bares her past. Notoriously, in her new video and at awards shows and parties, she also bares almost everything else (though, remarkably, even then some of her 11 body piercings remain invisible). In "I'm OK," she sings of the hurt she says she felt watching her mother "every time my father's fist would put her in her place." Another line speaks of "when I was thrown against those stairs," a lyric she told Rolling Stone was drawn from her father's behavior. Though her parents separated when Aguilera was 6 and friends say she has virtually no contact with her father (who could not be reached for comment), the pain is apparently still vivid. "One time she called me up, and she was crying about how it's so hard to sing these lyrics, because it's her," says Reilly. Stephen Sollitto, 37, a close pal who often styles her hair, does her makeup and with whom she shares her five-bedroom Beverly Hills house, adds, "She said, 'Maybe this will help him to face what he's done and process it.'" As for the outfits, the public debate seems to be, Vamp or tramp? "She just gets more and more naked, and it gets sleazier," says former Spin editor Alan Light. Diane Martel, who directed Aguilera's "Genie in a Bottle" video, counters, "She's a young girl having fun." Trish Summerville, her stylist and close friend, suggests Aguilera is simply in the process of evolving: "She's working on her past and her demons and all of that because she feels safe right now."
