They can't trade Mobley, he is one of the Rockets Mini-Plans for sale (MOBLEY II). http://www.nba.com/rockets/tickets/Rockets_200203_MiniPlans-51482-34.html It would suck if that package had to be renamed to Piatowski II.
No AD please. he is almost 35 i believe while B. Grant is only 31. Big difference. Plus, AD had a terrible year last year and i dont think he played the whole season. B. Grant has played 80 games each of the last 2 years.
Mobley is already a Rocket in the new ads for the NBA. I doubt that the Rockets would let Cat repersent the Rockets if they had any idea that he would be traded.
Would we rather have Brian Grant for the same deal? Isn't Toronto better off taking Cato then Mobley, since they have Peterson, Jeffries, and Carter? Cato and Griffin may work better? But that's a lot of size to give up, Antonio Davis showed serious decline last season. Brian Grant on the other hand, collected 10rpg for the first time in his career I believe.
Uhhh, those are from last year. Look at the Francis and Yao packs: John Stockton? Gary Payton isn't with Seattle. Olowokandi? Shawn Kemp? And this: Apr. 15 Memphis Compaq Center Ceremonies
aint gonna tradem . cat and steve are to good of friends. they already got rid of rudy. but i think that there is a lot of talk of trades to maybe wake this team up and if they dont this year then anyone but yao becomes tradable.
Nah, if Francis still had any pull with the organization, we wouldn't let T-Mo walk. We shouldn't have let him walk anyway, but they still did. I think Cat is being shopped quietly, but only in the right deals. I'm still not sold on AD. I would not give them Mobley. I think they would settle for a MoT and Cato package. They need depth upfront, and they get younger with this deal, as well as better. Financially, they don't lose anything. They gain talent. They gain scoring I think. They lose defense though. Maybe a Cato + Griffin trade would be better for them? Cato + Griffin + Moochie for Antonio Davis + Chris Jeffries? What do you think? Jeffries showed a decent shot, great defense, and great athleticism in few minutes last season. He's quite big at 6'8, and may be able to fill Posey's shoes.
If we've looked into AD, then we've also looked into Brian Grant. If we want to overpay for a power forward, let's get a slightly younger one. I wouldn't deal with Toronto unless we got Mo-Pete. And I would think Toronto needs a center (Cato). I'm still thinking Miami.
I take back and apologize to all the thread starters I bashed posting horrible, ridiculous trades............... This one takes the.............................need I finish
I don't think those ads mean anything. I've seen teams advertise a player and trade him while they advertise for him. And as much as I hate trading Mobley, if the Rockets want to improve they're going to have to trade quality for quality. Rockets fans have said they want a PF, and they want the Rockets to trade Mobley for a quality PF, and that's what you get with Antonio Davis. Would I do it? No. Is he productive at the PF spot? Definitely. Davis is an undersized center, move him to PF and you have a good PF. I seriously doubt Toronto gives up one of their SFs or a PG or anything, the only reason they would give up Davis is for Mobley AND Taylor, it wouldn't make sense for them to throw in a player. Plus the Rockets are conscious of the luxury tax, so no way would they take another player in the deal. This Davis deal leaves us without a SG or a SF, but it improves our PF spot which is what people wanted to trade Mobley for. Beggars can't be choicers.
codell- We can just take turns bringing this up anytime he tries to criticize the quality of someone else's post. Ads don't really determine whether a player will be on the team. I believe the Mavs traded Tony (or Richard?) Dumas a few days before Tony (or Richard) Dumas T-shirt day. Similarly, they traded Tim Hardaway just before the Hardaway bobble-head give away. Sane- How much of Chris Jefferies did you see? He had a pretty horrible rookie campaign and has struggled with his shot. As heypartner said, he was the only first rounder from 2002 to have a worse summer league game(s) than Boki's first couple. I don't think he'd be ahead of Boki, Rice, or Piatkowski on the SF depth chart, and now Adrian Griffin as well. I certainly wouldn't include Eddie in that deal. Guys like Posey and Jefferies are available in the mid-late first round, 20-something areas. That's why it wasn't that crucial to the Rockets future to resign Posey at such a fairly high cost.
NIKEstrad, I only saw Jeffries maybe 3 or 4 times, against the Rockets, Lakers and Mavs (Only games I get). I don't recall his summer league performances, I didn't see any of them, but in those games, what impressed me was that he didn't play like a rookie and his defense was VERY solid. He was not hesitant, and wasn't nervous at all going up against proven swingmen. As for his shot, I didn't see any boxscores or anything, but I'm just judging by what I remember. He didn't have bad form on his jumper AT ALL and I would've remembered if he shot a horrible percentage or anything like that, but the few shots he took, he made. From what I remember, he only shoots open shots too, very unselfsih. I'll look up some game logs, see what his numbers are like, see if they match what I'm saying. It's a moot point though now that we signed Griffin. I'd much rather have Mo Pete now, and trade Mobley.
