my girl is asian and claims she can cook,
but i call it turning the stove on HIGH and trying to cook any and everything as fast as possible!!!
even if its microwavable or easy bake she will disgard the directions and turn the microwave/oven on high heat and put it in there for the shortest time she feels necesarry.
needless to say, it all taste awful
and she gets insulted when i make suggestions that good cooking requires patience!

I have a wife, I don't have a girl. She can cook but I am better. As with Jeff my father did all of the real cooking. Actually her father did all of the cooking as well - something that is common in her culture. So, yeah, I love to cook. I prefer to cook without recipes but I have many cookbooks from which I get inspirations or starting points. Sometimes I go exact. I even "plate" our dinners most of the time (by that I mean arrange creatively).

Baking, on the other hand, is all my wife. She is incredible in this area. It fits our personalities, though. Baking is more of a science, cooking more of an art.

Teach a kid to cook and they can eat for a lifetime.

Don't teach a kid to cook and they'll die broke with high cholesteral. ;)

Fortunately my girl knows how to cook.. very well. I like to cook as well and I love to help people cook. The cleaning AFTER cooking is what I hate.

Now my roommate is a different story...
