T-Mac at 34 should be similar to Grant Hill at 34; that is, a star vet who still has a great shot and will take less money to play on a championship contender where he is not the #1 option. In 2012, I would guess that Morey has the Rockets as perennial contenders with half our roster international like the Spurs, lots of young studs waiting their turn in the D-League or European leagues, and plenty of vets lining up to take the minimum to play alongside Yao. We will have no bad contracts, unlike our previous administration (THANKS CD), and we will have gotten to the Finals at least two times in that span.
The English as a second language threads are awesome. "Can you imagine anything?" "Or smiling like veterans picking up draft lottery jersey and saying next season rookie comes?" "In that particular case Yao would have 33 and McGrady also, that's pretty veteran and some of the youth comes in." "Can you imagine them in Hakeem..." Not quite "backless stool" level, but still good stuff.
I don't know about you but I think Rockets are few slashers and good pg away of being in WCF. Pure example are L.A. Lakers who barely made playoffs last year and this year managed to stay healthy and now are leading and likely to go to NBA Finals. I know we have no Kobe Bryant but Tracy McGrady isn't so far away when he's healthy. But last part of the my sentence killes us every year.
T-Mac will be in the same exact position as Stackhouse for some other team, unless Houston wants to keep him. Yao will be the new Zydrunas.
5 years from now we'll have 0 championships. we arent winning a chip ever with T-Mac and Yao. after next year we will defintely get rid of t-mac and try to surround yao. after realizing Yao will never lead us to a champinship, we'll be a fringe playoff team for 5 more years until Yao has no value. then we'll be in the lottery and hopefully pull a Bulls and get the #1 pick. this time we're going to take the best available player.
Bingo! Can't believe I am agreeing with Roffle. Anyways, ss much as I love Yao and TMac, if Yao does not have a more dramatic impact next year than he has in the past, this is what I think will pan out as well.
In five years we'll have new decent looking uniforms and the Toyota Center will start to show its age.
