We have WAY more of a chance against the Lakers, Grizzlies and Spurs, than we do the Thunder. Those 3 teams are extremely beatable, the Spurs showed that last season...
So what? They need to get better. Guys just have to step up. I think the talent on this team is severly underrated just because people outside of Houston haven't heard their names on Sportscenter or Chris Broussard hasnt came on TV every 15 minutes to say where his sources are Kevin Martin wants to go to next season. That being said, I dont know what in the world is wrong with the points in the paint this team allows. Why is it that they just cant get it done, even bringing in Dalembert and Camby?? Is having a one-dimensional PF like Scola that much of a liability in the paint? I just dont understand it. Guys like Patterson, Dalembert, and Camby are going to need a gut check if they want to make the playoffs. They need to play big. literally. If you look at the schedule 4 games ago I said they need to go 10 and 9 over the last 19 games. They are 2-2 now in that stretch so far. If you look at the schedule they basically have what I consider 10 winnable games where they need to win 8 of those. The Rockets have two days to rest and get some practice/film sessions in. If they can get Martin back and somewhat productive it could do wonders in opening up a nice run down the stretch. The Rockets are in no way out of the playoff race. They are going to need to buck up, but they have the talent to get them in and lay the groundwork for the future a little bit more.
I dont think anyone wants to see the Spurs in the postseason. Nobody will be an easy out. The Spurs looked just as dominant last year, and Memphis took them out. The Grizzlies were right where the Rockets are now as a franchise last year. They made their franchise take a huge step forward with 4 playoff wins. I just want this team to get in the playoffs and see what happens. Maybe they get rolled over, or maybe something special happens, and the young Rockets suddenly turn a corner.
Not worried. Either way I get what I want this time. Either a first round pick by missing the playoffs or in the playoffs and highlighting our barely capable but still playoff worthy players on our roster.
Did you even watch the ****ing game? How can you make a crack like that about Scola after watching him play tonight. Either you didn't watch it, or you saw a game you mistakenly believed to be the Rockets versus Dallas, because all Luis did was lead the team in scoring with 22, grab 8 boards, deal 4 assists, and play 35 minutes the night after playing in overtime against the Kings, much of it against Nowitski, and playing damn good defense against the guy, at least until he ran out of gas late, and McHale stupidly had him playing the 5, again, out of position, again, late in the game. I swear to god, it doesn't matter what Scola does in a game, I end up reading crap like this. It gets beyond tiresome. Some of you should at least pretend that you saw the game before drawing your conclusions about Luis Scola. And I really, really hope he doesn't read this board.
I think what he is getting at is not Scola's performace against the Mavs which was pretty good. This make up of team, building around Scola, Martin and Lowry is wrong. Those are inconsistent players, all capable of going off in games but also falling hard on their butts. Scola seems to be the most consistent of those three.... but he is not 25 any more. That is all. One has to think about this.
Um, OP has a legit thought going on, maybe brought on by knee jerk but legit no less. The season is coming closer to end and we are heading in the wrong direction and with two big players sitting out till who knows when this is not looking good. So honestly, take your you think you came up with a smart arse reply but really its a double pointed blade because while you think your the smart arse you just proved we have reason to be worried, just like the OP said. And just FYI, the next five games do not look bright. Tough matches they will be.
Like i said before after losing the kings but we suck by, but its really not helping our case. I propose we start to play Morris if we lose to the kings, our upcoming 5 games could make us potentially go 0-5 and fall completely out of the playoff race. If Lowry and Kmart was sure to come back this season I would be all for continuing to play our best "sure" players their big minutes to try to get us wins because i really do believe we can upset maybe 1 round in the playoffs if we can get on a good shooting roll. However without this guys, we go from a shorthanded team to extremely short handed and definitely first round knockoutse, as in it wouldn't even be close to a sweep. If you watch our team its pretty clear on our best days we can beat the best teams but nowhere near competitively over sustained games. I really hope we can watch Parsons, Morris and to a certain extent, Dragic, Lee and Patterson play and see if they can develop. As such, I propose playing Camby, Scola, Boykins is really essentially pointless in the points i've highlighted. Obviously this is not going to happen as the organisation is set on playing their best players and striving to make the playoffs with the signings and trades they have just made. I just don't think its the best course of action. Potentially the rockets can finish 31-35 and get maybe a 12 pick which is still better than a first round exit and the 16-17 pick.
We are quietly tanking and I think Morey might actually be happy if we start losing some games so he can rebuild. Leslie probably wanted him to get out and get veterans in Camby & Boykins yet no SG is being brought in. I am not sure what to make of that but yes cracks are showing and besides the usual refs we are not doing well against playoff teams. We are even worse than last year in that category. Once they decide to announce Lowry out for the season, we will go in full tank mode and yet again we wasted another season getting a mediocre pick.
at least jopatmc isn't bumping his own threads anymore, just making new knee jerk ones. give him some ****ing credit!
