START THAT THREAD SAMMY...this is not about Yao......stop shifting the goal posts.....because your guy is getting his due criticism. DD
From a competitive standpoint, T-Mac can't help but be frustrated. As a competitor you want to be out there, especially if you can help. Would he be a liability on some plays? Of course he would but he would also be an asset on many others. He would be just like the healthy guys on the team, an asset and a liability, throughout his court time. We have seen evidence of this through the vids that Clutch has posted from each game. As a competitor, I would be frustrated and any poster on here that has played a team sport & had to come back from injury would probably feel the same way. As far as his contract, for me that is a non-issue. I know that it is an issue for him, so that may also be a contributing factor to his frustration. As a matter of principle, he should not be blasted for that either, since it is on the basketball court where he earns a living. That is his concern, but that is business that will take care of itself. I don't think that he was saying play me cause I gotta contract to earn but if he plays, but how he plays will have some say in his next contract, but again that is his cross to bear, not ours as fans. I feel that his minutes should be increased, but I also think that if the original plan was to re-evaluate after 6 games, then he should wait until the re-evaluation is completed. If the Rockets evaluate his play & determine that his minutes not be increased, then I think they need to be forthcoming with him about their intentions for him. The opportunity is there for increased playing time and I think that increased time would be beneficial to both the team & T-Mac. And if you feel that the Rockets had a right to be frustrated with him being in and out of the lineup last year when he was not healthy at all, why does he not have the right to feel frustrated about not playing more than eight minutes if being on the court will help the team? Seems hypocritical to me to jump to the team's defense when you feel T-Mac is at fault for the team's frustration and then to pile on T-Mac when he feels frustrated about how much time he is playing. Funny thing is, he never said he was frustrated with the team or coaching staff. He just said he was frustrated. Give it a rest and lay off the dude.
If this wasn't his contract year, T-mac would be happy playing 7 minutes a game. But since it is, he isn't. It's really that simple. Money talks. Ask Jerome James and Quentin Richardson that.
Big difference between me and you. Every Rockets player is my guy. The only 2 players that have ever tested this notion is Rafer Alston & Moochie Norris. You really cant blame me for that!
I actually want the Rockets to get rid of Yao, but that is going OT. Case and point is that this is what T-Mac agreed to and he has no right to start complaining now. He should finish his 6 games of 8 minutes each, work his ass off, and then talk to RA about more playing time.
I don't blame McGrady for being frustrated. But after everything that's gone on the past year and even this season, I an baffled, stupefied, disappointed, and fairly pissed off that he'd be making this frustration public.
But why Durv? That is what he does....EVERY SINGLE TIME....a leopard does not change his spots. It is EXACTLY why I want him traded, because he will NOT change his game....eventually he will go back to his comfort level and that is dominating the basketball taking bad shots, and shooting a low percentage. We don't need that, this team is better than that.......they are better off without him. It is just that many people get caught up in his skillset that they fail to see the bigger picture. It's ok, they will get it when he is gone and the team has more success without him than it ever did with him. DD
What's interesting, is the fact that DD has been saying that all over again and again. But it is just all about his mood. It depends on his mindset I guess. One day he says: I wish him well and want him to play well as long he is a Rocket Than he follows with: We have to cut that cancer because he is killing our chemistry, etc. That's all. That's who DD is. You gotta accept that.
Just a bit. He shouldn't be blaming anyone for the situation that he is in. Injuries suck, but his behavior has been childish.
I agree with this guy. You can't also blame Mac for everything the rockets are going through. Rights now, there can't be any conclusion about t-mac's play, because he hasn't played enough to be even analyzed. He has a very good reason to be frustrated. Adelman shows no interest in involving him in the team, when some games have clearly show that the Rockets need someone to give the ball to when anybody can get a shot in. Besides, during his 45 minutes of play, McGrady has show explosiveness, athleticism, elevation, all of which he didn't show last season. He has clearly improved. Then why not give the guys what he deserves?
My point is this - We at 17-12. does playing T-mac more keep us at 17-12? Does it make us 16-13? 15-14? Sub 500? I am trusting RA to make the decisions that WINS GAMES! Getting T-Mac his next big contract should be a bit of a lower priority Rocket River
Fantasy. T-Mac knew the timetable, he's admitted he wasn't supposed to be back until Jan/Feb. He pushed for an earlier because it's a contract season.
McGrady is even lucky to be playing on the court right now. Adelman is giving him 7-8 minutes a game so he wont RE INJURE himself AGAIN. McGrady always opens his big mouth, how about he just keeps it to himself. Look, it hasn't even been a month yet and McGrady already says he's ready, thinks he can become that no.1 option, and can play 20+ minutes a night. NO, he just needs to play, be happy Adelman even gave him any minutes, hustle, and try to not ruin chemistry with this team. He needs to earn these minutes.
