Can you be a true Rockets fan and also root for the Spurs as your 2nd favorite team?

    No.

I've spent the last 23 years supporting this team through losing seasons and winning seasons. Through heartbreak and joy. If it's not the Rockets, then I am not rooting, cheering and/or empathizing with any other team. I've been through too much emotionally to root for any other team. And threads like the other one just reinforce it.

I feel like we're married and when I said "till death do us part", I ****ing meant it!!!

There is only one thing that will make me stop supporting the Rockets. If they leave Houston. And I doubt that will ever happen in my lifetime.

I'll repeat what I said in the other thread:

If you're a diehard Rockets fan, you would never root for the Spurs. EVER!!! If you think I'm being overly harsh or critical, then understand that you are not a true diehard Rockets fan.

And to elaborate on that point, let me just say that people who claim they're not our rivals because we hardly ever meet them in the postseason, so what? They have 2(or 1 1/2 if you devalue the '99 season like I do) more titles than the Rockets. They have way more division titles than the Rockets. They've had far fewer lottery seasons than the Rockets. They've had more MVPs than the Rockets. They beat us 17 straight damn times in their building until last season. Oh, and they play just 200 miles down the road.

How in God's name is this team not a major rival taking all that into account?! And how as a true Rockets fan can you even for one second root for them. No, you don't have to hate them with every fiber of your being like I do(although it helps), but you sure as hell don't cheer them on. And that's not even getting into their flopping and dirty tactics.

All Rockets fans hate lists should be Spurs, Mavs, Jazz.

If you have any of those as your 2nd, GTFO

I don't like the Spurs. It's acceptable, especially considering they've already won a championship, and have more than us. At this point it doesn't matter.

Also, there's nothing wrong with continuing to support Texas teams. As long as it isn't the Mavs.

Of course you can. There is nothing wrong for rooting against the organization and team that the Rockets and everyone else strive to be. They are smart, gritty and clutch. How can you not like that unless you're a whiner like Nash and Chris Paul?

Support anyone else against the Spurs.

Support anyone else against the Jazz.

If it is Jazz vs spurs then I do shots of Tequila and miss the game.

I guess you could be since the rocket's are done and people usually pick their secondary team to win. Nothing wrong with SA except they play physical and dirty which is even worst than Utah.

May I also add 1981 as well? That was the only other year the Rockets ran into the Spurs in the playoffs, and they won that series much like they did in 1995, but the hard way (Win games 5 & 7 at San Antonio while losing games 4 & 6 at home).

Are you referring to the fact that I'm geriatric and can no longer put together sentences on a consistent basis?

    no... man aren't you hype-sensitive.

i meant old-schoolers tend to say yes while the youngsters say nay. isn't that obvious? or is it just me?

I don't like San Antonio the city.
I don't like the Spurs fans back in the day because of this Robinson vs Dream debate, which was settled in 1995.

However, besides Bowen, those guys are good. I don't like Popovich either, Maxwell hated him too!

Would I throw Brooks and Rafer in the Riverwalk for Tony Parker?? HELL YES!

Can you be straight but still have sex with men?

I have respect for the Spurs, but I will never ever go near rooting for them unless somehow it benefits the Rockets. :D

I'm both a Rockets fan and a Spurs hater, but I'm not a Spurs hater because I'm a Rockets fan. I just effing hate the Spurs because they cheat, they flop, and they pay off the refs.
