i'll be sure to remind my UT friends the next time they invite me to a UT game party, or tailgate that they should actually resent me and look down on me for beign a lowly bobcat.

i love the holier than thou attitude from someone that attended Texas TECHNICAL University, though.

I'll cling to the truth. When you have 4 teams standing at the podium of their bcs bowl games after winning, claiming to be No.1, then no champion emerged.

    This didn't happen in 2005.

Congrats on that. The rest of the world and the history books recognize Florida, but you can have your little defiance club.

I don't think any of them claimed to be #1...only that they deserved a shot to play for it. Florida and OU were given that opportunity and Florida won.

All the back and forth $hit flinging reminds me of an other topic we can b*tch about.

What do you guys think of people who are obsessed with watching/following sports, when the closest they come to playing one is surfing the BBS?

For those that are against cheering for a school's team, although you didn't attend that school.....it's kind of like cheering for the Rockets if you don't actually live in Houston or even never lived in Houston. You cheer for whoever you like and for whatever reason. Screw the holier-than-thou douchebags that tell you who you can and can't cheer.

I moved to Austin 8 years ago having never followed the Longhorns and started listening to a game one day while washing my truck. They put in this young kid named Vince Young and just hearing how he was affecting the game got me hooked. Everything else has just built from there.

Colleges would sure hate it if they were limited to their alumni. TV deals would sure suck if the only people who watched college games were people who went to the schools playing that day.

Damn, I think this thread started because of me calling out big texxx lol....

I'm not a "t-shirt" fan if I'm going to be attending the university pretty soon now am I? This school I go to now doesn't even have a football team (which is sad to say the least).

Maybe we could elect an official checker and they can decide for everyone if you can be a fan or not....

One does not have to actually attend a college to be emotionally invested and cheer for the team. For example, my wife and I both went to Texas State (Eat 'em Up Bobcats!), but we live in the Austin area and she works for UT, so we cheer for the Longhorns as well.
