If Yao is going to break the 30 point barrier again, he's going to have to take more shots than he did yesterday. No way will he score 30+ by just taking 14 shots again. If he takes 10-15 shots the rest of the series, then he'll probably end up averaging 17-22 ppg.

    So true.

I'm thinking that claim might go down in the same class as Ruben Patterson's "Kobe-stopper" boast.

I believe he can do it again as long as not getting into foul trouble early in the game. This will be crucial not only in this coming game, but for the rest of the playoff games.

Find Yao Search Yao and Protect Yao

Its not whether we think he can do it. It's whether he thinks he can do it and I believe he thinks he can. Did you check out his post game interview when he was asked the question about whether he agreed with Magic Johnson that if he played like this every playoff game the Rox would be in Finals. He said YES, thats as close as Yao comes to trash talking.

Any Yao hater that says this is not a different Yao is crazy, his stamina is better, his moves and footwork are totally changed for years 1 and 2.

You have to figure that now the Mavs HAVE to double Yao... a guy in front, and a guy in back. This means that they have to leave someone open. WE are going to have to hit our jumpshots in the next game, or we won't even be close to winning.

If the Mavs play the same strategy again (which started out being to shut down the lane to TMac), then Yao will go off for a big game again. Unfortunately, I am sure they will want to shut down Yao. TMac and friends will have to step it up in game 3, and Yao is going to be forced to make the pass......

Hey DampAss, for someone with a medical issue, Yao sure tore up your sorry Azz last night!

Does anyone noticed in the second half, JVG hardly called anymore plays for Yao, Yao was never settled in the low post, he was up high either setting screen or doing something else and our guards hardly looked for him any more.

Yao had 23 points in the first half, he coud have easily scored 40+
if he had more touches(don't start a fight over this again, it's a legit concern). I truly don't get it the way JVG uses Yao sometimes!

We're here at this board always advocating feeding the hot hand, Yao hardly missed a single shot last night..... your thoughts!

Yes I saw it all live and when Yao is not in foul trouble he is so smooth everything looks so easy for him he catches the ball and finesses it in everytime its so much prettier than a dominating Shaq I hope Yao continues at his pace to shut everyone up

I say he can if the Rockets organization hires someone to hypnotize him before the game, just make him believe that he is capable of dominating the game and no one on the Mavs team can stop him. :)

Don't ya just love it. When other teams are basically in pick your poison mode? Double Yao? Or double T-Mac? Which three point bomber do we leave to double? This feels good folks:D

We all knew Yao had this type of game in him, the problem was getting it to come out. I for one thought it would probably take 1 or 2 more years before it came out because he was progressing at such a minimal pace.

yeah, I really hope they don't try that again where Yao is guarding Josh Howard. Howard was scoring at will.
Then again, they're probably hesitant to try that (at least early in the game) cuz Nowitzki would be at risk of getting in foul trouble trying to guard Yao...
If that doesn't happen, I predict Yao will continue to play great as long as T-Mac keeps feeding him those high, crisp passes off the PNR.

This is the real question. I think we'll see if Yao has turned a corner for real or if game 2 was just another teasing of his potential. Let's hope it's not the latter.
