Let me ask you this - why do you think Ware is a better player when Reed is in my distorted fact averaging 20/10?
I come to this sight to read well reasoned arguments and OP comes through with this kindergarten logic.
Every top 5 pick gets a chance to prove them selves. Both past and present. The minutes he received, he was GIVEN those minutes. Not saying he wasn't showing signs of productivity in practice, because some players are "PRACTICE PLAYERS" and some are "IN GAME PLAYERS" It's just that he didn't earn those minutes he received early on, they were given to him because of his draft status. And because they gave him those minutes, there were expectations.
Very good analogy! My only argument with your point of view is that, Rafael Stone said that they felt they got the BPA and even if they had the #1 pick, they would have still chose Reed. Sure, everyone feel and say after the draft that they got the best player, however I feel as though the Rockets went for NEED, rather than BPA. To me, this was more of a centers draft; Clingan, Ware, Edey, etc. That's the way I wanted the Rockets to go. Since every team in the league is playing basically the same way, playing for 3pt, you can always find a shooter to fill the 7 - 9 man rotation spot. Once again, like I said previously, on many occasions, I'm willing to give him until next Pre-season to show SOMETHING, ANYTHING, besides begin a high IQ player. Because of his size, lack of quickness and handles, if he can't shoot, he's useless. His 3pt shooting has to be at 40%, to be justifiable for him getting playing time.
The expectations could have been that he was going to struggle. Young players are often put in situations where they are expected to fail. I'd be shocked if the Rockets didn't think there was a good possibility Reed would struggle to start the season even if they hoped he wouldn't. Ime has been around too much Basketball to think someone like Reed would be a sure fire reliable backup pg. They kept Holiday around for a reason.
I'm sure they signed Holiday as an insurance option but I have no doubt they expected Reed to produce, from their draft analysis and what he showed in the G - League.
Read this article. When Stone drafted Reed he did not expect him to be a key part of the rotation this year. https://www.si.com/nba/rockets/news...ard-there-is-a-lot-to-like-rockets-news-draft
Good find. I think Reed's playing time was open, depending on he responded. In the article, Stone said he didn't expect much, it was up to Ime.
You sound like an absolute idiot. Dude explained to you very nicely why it was stupid for you to lie and make up the numbers, for the simple reason that you could have just reached your end result with actual facts. And you respond like an absolute idiot to that and mock him. Not cool or smart
I'm curious to see how they distribute mins after the break. Also, if Thompson will remain in the starting lineup as well
