Actually, NJ might be the perfect place for Rafer. He would have great marketing value for those who remember him as the streetball legend in NYC. I'd love it if they sent us Marcus Williams himself, if he's allowed to be traded, while injured. I know, the salaries are different, but they could send us their TE for Rafer, then trade us Williams for Reed. I'd take Boki too, or anyone young we could build with, but wouldn't want any of their old guys. But, their TE means they could send us a draft pick, which would be mighty tempting.
I dont care if he is injury prone. with Jefferson with a lethal combo. tracy, yao & RJ is deadly. Yao Scola Jefferson McGrady Mike James Bench Francis Wells Head Brooks Hayes Snyder Moutombo Butler That team is insanely good.
Alston for a trade exception and a draft pick would be awesome. I'd be very content with that, although I'd take Marion, AK-47 and/or RJ for Alston, Battier and Sura. Don't see any of those happening though.
If the salaries matched (not sure they do, probably don't), as pillage mentioned, a TE and a pick might be something decent for Rafer. The problem with making a trade sending us more players then we send out is that we have too many already.
It seems that everyone want to trade Rafer. Just like t-mac4bigmac said, let the season start, we don't know SF3 is really suit for us.
Ok I agree let the season start, cause we cannot be sure Steve will be in a good shape. The same with all our players. But if we can trade Rafer for a better player (as I said earlier) I'll do that. We have too many PG right now, so rafer's trade won't be as stupid
Another trade Rafer thread... I'm 100 % sure that Rafer will stay in Houston and play lesser role than last season...
Most fans here think JVG is a good coach. I rest my case. And yeah if we can dump Rafer on the Nets DO IT!
how little you know about professional basketball. no way will the team keep a 4.5 million pg to play a lesser role on the team. he will be traded sooner or later. patience youngling!
As for Steve Francis- I recall reading earlier this summer he had been practicing hard and was in very good condition- Steve's intent being he would arrive at Camp in top form
I think it's more likely you'll see Lucas III traded to NJ than Rafer. They say Williams is only missing the first 8 games of the season anyway. So, it's not like they'll be without their main backup for a real extended time. I think Rafer would be a good fit there but there just isn't a big enough need they would trade for a player with 3 yrs. and $15 mil. left on his deal, especially considering he would be 3rd-string once Williams comes back.
they could always cut players out. other teams that could use a veteran PG, hawks, celtics, heat, wolves and bobcats. But none of them would want RA. I guess alston would be traded out only when there is an injury during the season, not pre-season.
Battier IMO is untradeable this year, he is our defensive anchor. Can't have full-blown offense without a little JVG sprinkled on top of it.
Why would you want to move the only pass-first guard on the team? If Alston leaves, we would still have a lot of guards, but not a lot of diversity at the position. All those other guards are shoot-first.
