Word on the street is that @swyyyguy and @Mr. Motiejunas are pretty whale like. @FTW Rockets FTW can you verify?
Instead of getting Favors we should try to dump Ryan Anderson on Utah so we can get Carmelo. Seems like Anderson would fit well next to Gobert, he would stay for a while in Utah because of his contract and they have a bunch of extra money to spend.
Tbh i'd stay away even if they would want to move him, he had a lot of injuries lately, he's going to get paid and he's more of an old school 4, no outside shot, good defense but not exactly a great rebounder or rim protector for what i see...
The NG contracts are useful for salary dump. But every team that is under the cap can use their cap space for salary dump, too. The issue isn't our ability to take someone's salary dump, but the number of other options for salary dump for Utah that don't violate the aphorism, "Don't **** where you eat." Beyond that, Favors' contract is nearly $12 mil per at this point. I'm not an expert, but following from a distance, I don't think the sum of the Rockets' NG contracts add up to even half of that. Also, if I were Utah, even if you make a trade to dump the salary on Favors, I'd expect some sort of positive asset in return, like a decent cheap young rotation player or two, or a late first round pick. Age/production/salary makes him more than just a warm body attached to a bloated contract. IMO, if he were a FA this year, he probably would have pulled down something near the $12 mil/yr he is slated to earn, if not more. He's no Timofey Mosgov, where you regret what you are paying him the moment you agree to do so.
