Can we finally put to rest that the Gasol/Brown trade was 1 sided

    Yes, that's what I think. "Neither knew anything" is a bit exaggerated. Of course Marc had some potential. That's why he was part of the deal. But do you seriously believe that Marc was the reason Memphis wanted to trade with the Lakers?

    The center piece of the trade was Kwame Brown, who after his stint with the Lakers had proven beyond any doubt that he could never be more than a serviceable backup big man. Brown would not have gotten any taker if not for his expiring contract.

    Marc was a deal breaker. The lakers wanted to give the grizzlies sun yue. The grizzlies insisted on marc. Finally the lakers gave in.

    But you are right: the most important part of the deal was the expiring contract. 2nd was Marc. And Javris was the throw in, that you mentioned.
