-Bobby Jackson + Steve Francis + Luther Head + Carl Landry ( 4 million $ sign n trade ) + #25 draft pick = Vince Carter + Diop -Sign Azubuike for 3 million $ - bling bling! You've got the ring! Rafer/Brooks Vince/#54 draft pick/Azubuke T-Mac/Shane/Novak/Green Scola/Hayes Yao/Diop/ Deke
I wonder if that trade is possible. I'd hate to see Landry gone, and I'd still think we'd need to get some size at the back up PF position, but that team would be pretty damned tough. Maybe we could trade Battier to Portland for Outlaw and their pick. I love Battier, but Outlaw wouldn't be much of a downgrade (if at all) and then we could use the 13th pick to get either a backup SG or big PF.
http://www.startribune.com/sports/wolves/19269829.html?location_refer=Sports The Rockets get to check out potential draftees working out for the Timberwolves, and vice-versa. Is it possible that this is just a way to check out the high picks, possibly in anticipation of moving up to the Wolves' 3rd overall pick? For the sake of keeping it on the down-low.
The player I would like to see Houston bring back is...Richard Jefferson. Alston and Jackson for Jefferson. Who would play PG? Jason Williams, of course.
imagine the chemistry between the 2 cousins, it'd be like raptors all over again but rockets would dominate at a much higher rate. if mcgrady can be moved to PG (since we all knows hes capable of running the offense), we can include rafer brooks or francis into the offer to acquire vince. think about it: harris, hayes woods, jackson, luther, and 2nd round pick, for vince and krstic and if that doesnt work, we could include either francis or brooks if Tmac can manage PG. try to sign Azubuike... and the rotation would be Rafer/Tmac/Brooks or Francis Tmac/Vince/Azubuike Vince/Battier/Novak Scola/Landry/Krstic Yao/Krstic/Dike
i am still not satisfied with that because we are still depending on a 3rd score and also our bench is VERY young, ager, brooks, (draft pick), that is certainly not the answer
if rox do trade for VC, it be alot more than just landry, I guess NJ will ask for battier, bjax and landry at the very least.
If we end up with Tmac, Yao, and Scola still on the roster i trade whatever it takes to get a player of VC's caliber. We all know the ring ho's would follow just like they did with the Celtics this year.
I would do it. We'd have to trade Battier though. I would be supremely confident with Alston/Brooks at PG if the other starters were Yao, Scola, Carter and T-Mac. We could deal Battier for expiring contracts. Maybe we deal him to a team below the cap for a TE and a pick? That would be awesome. I just have a very low opinion of Battier I guess. I also see Vince's ability to pass and shoot as great additions around Yao. Not to mention I think he's a better rebounder than Battier.
Hello?!! You're way undervaluing Battier and his major contributions to our wins this past season. Battier is the leader of our defence. There IS a reason why Memphis became one of the worst defensive teams in the league after Battier left. And Battier is a big part of the reason why we have the 2nd best defence in the whole league right now. I guess if we have to trade for a 3rd star we have to give up Battier. But I'd be more than happy to keep Battier, unless of course a right deal is on the table for Battier. By the time we trade Battier away and we become good offensively people will complaining how our defence sucks and such...
I understand you, I also love Shane and I also think the defense is very important in bball and his defense id very important here in Houston. I know we have been one of the best defensive groups past 2 years but...as we saw our problem (past 2 years) was offense. This year we had only T-Mac, last year we had had only Yao and T-Mac. We just need offense, more ofensive power. Battier is not ony a great defender, but damn 9 ppg is not going to get it done, especially in the playoffs. Health was our problem, but offense is offense, we were not able to score enough points in the postseason. I don't wanna give up Shane, his defense (especially 1 on 1) but maybe with more offensive power and health of course we will do something more in the playoffs...?
We have to see who did rox trade for battier, if it ever happens. A all rounder like VC will not hurt the defense too much, as he takes a lot of pressure off Tmac on the offensive side, hence Tmac will have more energy to defend. And VC is not a slouch defender either. He may not be an elite defender like battier, but he do defend his man.
I can see what you're saying in that you say we lack offense. But Shane's 9ppg are quite efficient compared to Rafer and T-Mac in terms of shooting percentages. And Shane doesn't need the ball to score his points. We all know all he does is stand in the corner to shoot 3's. Shane's offense without the ball means T-Mac is able to handle the ball more and as a result score more points. Right? And Shane's defensive efforts allows T-Mac to play less defence if he plays any kind of defence at all, saving his energies for his offensive prowess. In the playoffs we lacked our major scoring option in Yao Ming. Next year when Yao comes back we'll have Scola paired with him, and so when Yao gets double teamed Scola is able to use his offensive abilities to score easy baskets.(all PF's must love playing next to Yao Ming...). Chuck Hayes cannot play any sort of offense at all...yet he was our starter... Battier is much better than Chuck Hayes at scoring right? Hes got that reliable 3 pointer and sometimes throws a hook shot in there as well. So his defender can't really come off him to double team T-Mac/Yao like they could with Chuck. Scola can take some of the attack as well. He's a legit PF. I would only trade for a star if it means giving up Battier. Only things I'd complain about Battier other than his offensive limitations is his FG & and 3pt% has regressed from previous seasons...weird...hes not even 30... and his rebounding...I think the only thing he improved is his shot blocking.
I don't know if Vince Carter will be right for us or not but Battier can never get a star back in return.
