I roll my eyes at those of you who act like playing the Jazz is an automatic loss - the question isn't even "Will we beat them" but "Can we beat them". And yes, we can beat the Jazz, and you kneejerkers need to quit acting like they are this uberteam of death.

We can beat the Jazz, we just need a better inside defense. You essentially have to play a zone defense against Utah, because htey do nothing but cut and slash. We need three men in the key and two rotating around the perimeter. Yao and Scola HAVE to man up in the paint, and we need Battier or Artest to also help control the cut and slash lanes down the middle. Now, both of these guys are great at stealing the ball, so I don't see why they can't be totally effective at this. I think another key is for Adelman to notice and properly sub Yao out when he's gassed or tired. Landry or Chuck Hayes are, in my opinion, possibly more effective defensively than Yao, against this type of team.

The Jazz aren't a terribly effective three-point shooting team (unless they're wide open). So, if we can keep them out of the cutting lanes, and out of the 15-foot range, I think we can play effectively against them.

Of course, this is taking into account that we shoot higher than 35%, get to the line at a FAIR clip, and are not playing in Utah, where the Jazz probably get the most lenient officiating of any team in any sports league, for some reason.

I say, bring them on in the playoffs!

i'm starting to believe that if we do end up being matched up with the hated Jazz in the playoffs.. we won't advance..

all the roster changes.. player developement.. chemistry.. of the world is simply not going to do anything to change that..

the Rockets have demonstrated.. that no matter what.. they'll always mentally cower, roll-over, and shrink against the Jazz..

And reality sets in for the majority who voted "yes". I've always said Utah is a bad match-up for us.

i'm afraid brains are required to execute any gameplan.. including the above.. and the Rockets' collective intelligence.. shrivels and dies.. against this team..

Lol @ the poll. Did anyone see the game tonight? Or the game before that? Or the playoffs last year? Or the year before that?

The Rockets have no chance at beating the j*zz. You guys are voting like homers.

If we see this team in the first round, were getting swept.

we wouldn't get SWEPT, but we would still lose the series so ya might as well be a sweep and then we concentrate on the astros..... BORING!!!!

Pretty much all of that statement. The Jazz are a good team, plain and simple. We lost because we lost our minds, had Wafer and Lowry charge up and down the court like crazy, and didn't give the ball to Yao. You don't do that, you play halfcourt, clog up the paint, you can win.
And care to explain to me how the Jazz have our total number? I'm not denying the Jazz are a good team, nor am I denying that beating them would be difficult and would probably take seven games. But you're acting like if we face Utah, we're out in 4, and that's completely ridiculous.

We shot ourselves in the foot a LOT in this game. I love to blame it on the refs, but tonight it was a healthy combination of bad decisions and bad calls.

We CAN beat the Jazz. You can always say we PROBABLY wont, but you can NEVER say we CANT.

Deal with it, you defeatists. We ClutchFans take our lumps and get back up, we don't cower and complain like pansies.

They're beatable gawdamit! And especially if we have homecourt advantage and a healthy team + Landry.

I fully agree and quit with the defeatist attitude. The jazz are beatable particularly if we have home court. They play terrible outside of UT and even though the wheels came off at the end we still played this game close late into the 4th.

We can certainly beat the jazz at TC and I'm not going to rule out beating them at UT.

well, let me just make it brief...

matchup problem #1 - deron williams vs our pgs. no need to explain this

matchup problem #2 - yao vs boozer. boozer mainly shoots from mid-range and we all know about yaos midrange defense.

matchup problem #3 - okur vs our pfs. okur is deadly from the 3 and scola or landry has no chance of guarding that.

matchup problem #4 - cutting guards vs our defense. we defend the best when we play man-to-man. battier and artest's great defense is pretty useless in this situation.

matchup problems # - their bench vs our bench. they have experienced players, while we have the exact opposite. u prove that in ur post
