I remain optimistic about JJ's MVP chances. He has been getting plenty of run on that lately. He just went out and dominated.
If Watt doesn't get MVP, I won't call it MVP ever again. Maybe MVOP, but not MVP. I hope everyone else follows this. That safety sums up why Watt should be MVP.
On another note, I will be PISSED if the voting for JJ's consolation prize DPOY isn't unanimous. (You hear me, Ashley Fox??)
Howie long said that the last time a player won DPOTY and MVP was LT in 86 and that Watt belongs in that conversation.
I feel the same way. I don't think she's dumb enough to do it again, though. She alologized to him, in person, for that other mistake.
Did she really? You know the KC voters are going to slob all over Houston. Who did everything worse than JJ, except 1.5 more sacks while playing on a stacked front seven.
The AP has an award already called Offensive Player of the Year In that case, what's the point of the MVP award? Why not just award it to the best OVERALL player - you know, one that contributes on both sides of the ball (and special teams)
In a way, not winning the MVP gives him just as much publicity as winning it. Plus, if he never wins it, he'll always have something to try and accomplish.
Exciting for the franchise. I think he'll get it, too much hype and performance backing it up atm. 9-7 w/ no playoffs isn't a dealbreaker.
it wouldn't shock me if state farm doesn't go into the locker room and pours ketchup over his sock. such a phony.
Game changer argument - QBs shouldn't get get as much MVP run as they do as almost every single great QB performance is the result of great line play and good/great receiver play. The stats are reaped by the QB, but take away the great line play and you get the swings in performance we have seen by Drew Brees, Phillip Rivers, Tony Romo, Aaron Rodgers, etc. Watt is the most valuable single player because what he is doing, he is doing without other great players supporting him.
look guys, most people from Wisconsin love Watts for obvious reasons (me from WI). and I am not saying A-Rod is the MVP, but just accept the reality that this is a QB's league. if GB offered to trade A-Rod for Watt straight up, almost everyone of you will take the offer without any hesitation. you can call it whatever, but MVP is just going to be this way for a long time. and GB is in a good position for the playoffs too... so... if Watt has another season like this and Texans are one of the top teams in AFC, then he should get realistic shot at it.
