In my opinion, this move sets us back this year, but adds a better trade piece in the offseason for us to take two steps forward.

He is not ready to play and needs to be developed in the D-league.

DD the way he is playing we all know its you're fault...:p

All seriousness though he looks lost and doesn't know his niche yet. Whats up with him clumping together next to Asik or Smith on half his plays? Why not space the floor (i know he doesnt have a 3 point shot) and attack when you get the ball or when there is a missed shot...just my .02 At this point Jones>T-Rob

He has swagger but so did joey dorsey. But I think he's has some raw talent n bball iq. I'm sure he has more potential than patterson in 1-2 years

Ppat was our best screen and roll defender and very solid overall with his defensive principles. When he rebounded he was a very effective 4 on this type of team.

So you mean to say he was rarely an effective 4 on this type of team. Robinson has more double digit rebound games than Patterson this year...pretty pathetic.

Bleacher Report or not , I have to agree with the meat of the article - Robinson's offensive game is lacking and the thing thats gonna get him on the floor is his ability to rebound.

To be honest , after watching him play both for and against the Rockets , its pretty obvious many of his skills are not NBA ready.

Bigs really take a while to develop the multitude of skills required in the NBA game , size and athleticism only get you so far.

Shooting 42% from the field and ~50% from the line .... Just isnt my idea of a post player in the NBA.

He would have been well suited staying at Kansas for another year maybe two in order to develop and actually contribute at a high level rather than being paid to be a project.
The NBA was a much better product when it was routine for players to stay 4 years in school.

It feels like they're giving Trob playing time based on draft pick alone, to be honest.

It's a little premature to start tanking isn't it?

At least we got a highly protected 1st round pick out of the Thabeet deal.

Yes, and he's a top pick with potential to be much better in the future.

The DLeague is used to develop a players talents. He has talents that can help us, thats not is problem. He needs to be with the team and learn our schemes. He already has enough talent developed to help us this year, he just needs to develop a better realization of offensive schems and better team chemistry

I agree with you to a certain extent but I do however think he has the ability to help us while improving. but chandler parsons is a perfect example for your four year theory and he played over morris right away probable for that reason

I believe that is why he needs to go to the D-League, because they apparently run the same stuff the Rockets do, it'll give him a ton of time to become acclimated in a short amount of games.

But you are also right in that he has talents that can help us now, namely the rebounding, making me think he's not being sent down because he's the best option we have on the bench.

The Vipers are in a playoff race and are already dealing with one "top 5 talent in the 2012 NBA draft," let us not hold back the Rio Grande Valley region further. Don't they suffer enough down there already?

You wouldn't know it the way they played their last game. Adding Robinson certainly wouldn't hurt.

I don't really agree with it at all.

A lot of players come out after one year and straight dominate the league...some guys stay in school longer and never really translate.

Blake didn't need four years, Lebron didn't need one. I think there are pros and cons to it.

If you come out early the pro is you can get NBA development sooner in your career. NBA conditioning, NBA coaches...etc etc...but you may not be the most complete player yet (still need post game, need jumpshot, etc etc..)

If you wait you may come out a more complete player, but your career is shortened. For a big man that may take a while, you may be like 26-27 before you finally 'get it' while if you came out after one year...you'd hit your prime at like 23-24...like how James Harden is doing right now.
