No, Caserio getting to hire a third coach just provides further evidence that Cal McNair is clueless about how to run a football team. I'm pretty sure that if Caserio gets to hire a third coach, he's going to hire a coach that is not in demand and has little experience. Google top NFL head coaching candidates for 2023 and some from that list may make the final round along with some wild card candidate with hardly any experience. At the end of the process, Caserio's going to hire the person with no experience. Why?

I just think that Caserio wants to play head coach on Sunday and be GM too. He wants to do everyone's job and not really focus on his main responsibilities...it's the Patriot way. That's the only reason I can think of as to why Caserio would hire Culley and almost hire McCown - both coaches with no experience. He's not able to do that this year with Lovie who is a more qualified coach. I think he wants to get back on the headset.

Lovie and qualified coach don’t belong in the same sentence

McClain has been notoriously wrong about a lot of things over the past few years. I'd really question whether he has had the "inside scoop" for quite some time now.

But yes look what happened with Crane and Click. They disagreed and Crane fired him, right after winning the freaking WS too. In general, disagreeing with your boss typically isn't the wisest move, regardless of what is says in your contract. But one thing that stood out to me were the reports that Janice was in on the interviews. IIRC McClain even reported that the final interviews were conducted at her house. Not sure about you but that doesn't sound like Caserio being in "charge of the process."

Janice and Cal wanted Lovie on Gannon staff in some capacity and Gannon walked…Gannon really wanted the job he was reported as being well prepared for the interview and really took it seriously…hope we hire either Gannon or Ryans

Once again, what changes in a year that suddenly Gannon would get hired here?. I thought the narrative last year was that Gannon told us no.

Naw the Texans ( Cal and Janice ) pulled the rug from Gannon…they wanted to control his staff by making Lovie a part of his staff. And when he didn’t agree they went with Lovie

Read the comments in the tweets I sent above everybody at the senior bowl thought the job was Gannon…he will want to come back he really wanted the job last year him and Caserio are close.

I would be happy with Gannon for sure.

Brian Johnson as OC and McCown as QB coach?

Schefter thinks Johnson will get a head coaching interview or two. I'd love it if we hired Gannon and paid Johnson very well to be OC for a few years.

Of course, I still don't think Cal has the balls to fire Lovie.

Johnson is a fast riser in the NFL if we can nab him with Gannon that would be huge..he hasn’t called plays in the NFL yet…

If not Johnson then keep an eye on Kevin patullo current passing game coordinator for the eagles.

Why does it change this year?

So many narratives… so many excuses… so many theories to explain why this franchise is in the dumps other than its the stupid owner.

Its even more jarring when the next crop of “genius” OC turned NFL HC’s has fully declared itself (O’Connell, Mike McDaniel) during a time when the Texans were actually wide open to get a new HC, and yet they not only failed, they embarrassed themselves further than any lawsuit or other narrative would have caused damage.

Can the Texans afford to not fire Lovie? Ultimately it makes no difference with current ownership running the show.

Great. Cal will now comply with the commissioner’s wishes that they try to limit dead money to fired coaches by not firing coaches. (Even though the Texans have contributed big time to this by hiring non qualified guys with the intent of firing them).

And since Cal has never seen lower revenues than this year, he may just do that.

Exactly. NFL is going to screw us by pressuring someone that is easily impressionable.
