Yoyo, the Kevin Love trade was ALSO a McHale move. In fact, if Kevin McHale (who allegedly fell in love [no pun intended] with Love during the pre-draft process) wasn't the Minnesota GM at the time, it is questionable whether the T-Wolves do anything but select AND KEEP O.J. Mayo. Not sure I get the Scola comparisons. Aside from both playing below the rim, being good rebounders in general, and being "non-black", there is not that much similarity in their games. Scola is predominantly a defensive rebounder, whereas Love dominates on the glass on both ends, especially on the offensive boards. So even the rebounding similarity is not quite there. Also, Love is a MUCH better passer than Scola and has better range. I do think that Scola has a more "cultivated" game, but that is primarily because he is 8-9 years older than Love. Uh, . . . if the Rockets get Kevin Love, he'll play over both Scola (who possibly wouldn't be back in that situation) and Hill (who may or may not be included in any trade package for Love). When you have a talent like Love, you play him. He's a better player than Scola right now (by a little bit) and will undoubtedly be a far superior player to Scola in the next few years. Love is WAYYY better than Hill and is actually YOUNGER than Jordan. Wow. Just . . . wow. You, sir, must not watch much basketball. "Yeah. Kevin Love is a white big man. David Andersen is a white big man. They must be exactly alike!" Other than three-point shooting range, there is NOTHING similar about Love's and Andersen's games.
Thanks for pointing these out. People just don't seem to know Kevin Love very well (understandable give nobody pays attention to that team outside of Minnesota). I'm pretty sure Kevin Love is on Morey's radar somewhere. His numbers are just too interesting for anyone who pays any kind of attention to stats not to notice. A couple examples: He has an Offesive Reboudning % of 15%, which, judging by Hoopdata.com is #1 among NBA players who have averaged more than 25 mpg and played more than 40 games this season. And this is a guy who has taken 2 3-pointers a game, and is probably spotted up along the perimeter for a few more possessions, too. There really aren't that many good rebounders (especially offensive ones) who also have 3 pt range. Love also has averaged 5 FT attempts a game and 11.1 FG attempts. This isn't exactly Kevin Martin from last season, but quite good nevertheless.
Love may actually be the most realistic option to upgrade PF, but it entirely depends on whether Minny is willing to trade him, which is a big "if". I don't think you're going to have to gut the team to get him, unlike with Bosh, and he would actually be cost effective for us financially. But he'd be hard to pry loose. Who knows. Let's see what Morey has in his bag o' tricks.
what's up with all the weird thread titles? some of the last few threads started contains words such as nuts, love, dangle, beef, and swallows? heh
Can the Rockets make love? You bet. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UPv1tclfCkU&hl=en_GB&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UPv1tclfCkU&hl=en_GB&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
Jefferson and LeBron will be making similiar $$$ next seaon. Except Jefferson isn't in that class when fully healthy and isn't as good as he was pre-injury.
They'll deal Jefferson before Love. Though this is the T-Wolves here. Besides Lamarcus Aldridge, Kevin Love, Landry, Paul Millsap, maybe Michael Beasley playing at small foward instead of PF, there hasnt been any good power forwards to come out the draft in 5 years. With Kevin Love being the best combo of young and good. I understand Love's frustration with his role and inconsistent minutes. Though its not like he's being treated as chopped liver. Wolves are trying to give a free look to Darko who has some semblence of defensive ability. And Jefferson is already their pre-established big money franchise guy before he got there. In a true meritocracy Love should get big minutes and a starting role. But he's making 4 times less than the guy in front of him. When you're constantly losing, the team is prone to constant lineup shuffles. Just how it goes.
People talk about Al Jefferson, but the Wolves big man Morey should be after is Love. Morey make Love ours!
He can be a replacement for Luis, but nothing more than that. He can help us rebound, pass and shoot but he cannot defend quicker and better PF's. It would be nice if Hill were to develop quickly, but that is going to to take a considerable amount of time.
