Lol you are busy trying to take a SMALL quote from Kobe (and maybe Phil Jackson) a couple of years back as the Gospel, DD. I'm sorry but if you look at both players individually, they are NOTHING a like other than the fact that they are fast and they aren't your traditional point guards.

I'm not going to go through Parker's strengths and weaknesses because I'm going to think you would know what they are and I'm definitely not going to go through Brooks' strengths and weaknesses because you have it etched on your wall.

What I will say is this: Your thinking that giving Brooks and this Rockets team more time to gel, thereby making them a contender, is a bit far fetched. The one thing we agreed on (I think the ONLY thing we've came to agreement on) is that Bosh wasn't worth the money and wasn't the player most here thought he would be (i.e. Alpha Dog). But the Rockets definitely need a top flight player and that top flight player won't be an undersized point guard who's strength is shooting threes.

As far as my sig is concerned, yes, I do believe in Patterson and his ability to be a quality NBA player but I'm not going to go on the deep end and think he's going to be a superstar in the same vein like how you think Brooks and Budinger are capable of becoming.

Fair enough, but wouldn't you be happy to be wrong about either of them?

We do have a choice, hence the reason we've been trying so hard to acquire Bosh. Yao would be healthy had he played less minutes, and this was something Pops did with Duncan. He played Duncan less minutes in some games, and even had him completely sit out of games. By acquiring a player like Bosh, we could rest Yao. By resting Yao, we stay healthy and contending.

Hey I'm never the one to be too hardheaded/stupid to admit when I'm wrong on this board. If either of them becomes superstars, I'll gladly admit I was wrong about them. But that's a moot point RIGHT NOW considering our best player hasn't played basketball in over a year and just turned 30 years old. Oh yea, he's also on the last year of his contract.

I agree with you DD. We, like the Celtics with Rondo have up and coming guys. So many in fact that if we made a big trade we'd STILL have young talent. Yes the Heat had Wade but let's not forget he was not the player he is today. That first year Shaq was the man there. He was 2nd in the MVP race. And yes lucky trade for the Lakers but they still fast-fowarded through time by snagging Pau for Marc. There is no wrong answer for now because we have tons of potential with C-Bud, Hill, AB, Lowry, PP and even Jermaine Taylor.
We'll be fine people, and DM is not finished making moves.

DD, you are not the only person on this board who actually roots and hopes for the best for the Rockets and the team's players.

Your optimism often seems way over the top and that is what people are trying to convey. You, however, take peoples more grounded opinion of the team's roster as not being a fan or being a nay-sayer.

That is why, IMO, you get hammered so frequently on the board. Oh, and you do stupid raise the roof things in your videos.

I know, but it is the "Last year" so to speak, a make it or uh..you know (don't wanna say that word) kind of year.

Might as well embrace it and see what happens.

I would rather resign Scola, and Lowry, and see if someone might be unloading a true superstar at the trade deadline....

I know that Garner, and actually I am very realistic....have said we would not be getting Bosh, or had no chance at him all along.....and that he wouldn't be that much of an upgrade at his price point.

I do value the young players more than the average fan, because I know that to win a championship most teams need one or more of the young guys to develop into star players, because most star players do not come in Free agency...

Yes, this team may not have a Superstar, it has a few players that are close and could be though, and since that is all we got....what could that team do...and I honestly think, hey, that might be enough.

Similar to Detroit a few years ago.

As for the videos, I am having fun......people that hammer about that don't have the courage to do one of their own...so no worries from me.

    LOL, repped.

DD, on one hand you say we can't compare the 95 Rockets to this team until we start winning. But the whole premise of the thread is comparing this lottery team to the 4-time NBA champion spurs?

At that point they had one championship and the were worried about a young PG, and almost made a deal for Kidd.

They stayed pat, and won 3 more championships.

Sometimes staying pat is better than making a lateral move.

Would you rather we not have a guy like that?

When was the last time we had a player that was recognized by the entire NBA like Brooks was?

I don't get how people can laugh off what he has become in only his first year as a starter, it is mind numbing, actually.

    Downright ignorant, in truth.

They also had one of the best Power Forwards to ever play the game......

Not if you were a lottery team the previous year...

All truisms, and they have a healthy Yao and Tmac is gone. And have a lot of talented improving NBA players.....welcome aboard Ima !!

If Yao is healthy he is one of the best centers in the league.

Missing your two best players, man that is some great year.....not sure that the Lakers win without Kobe and Gasol.....

YOU CAN NOT SQUASH MY OPTIMISM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GO ROCKETS !!!!!!!

    pick nits.

Ok, not really, but in all seriousness, I do understand your optimism for the team's youth. Without doubt, Morey has done a superb job of assembling young guys, a cache of assets.

However, as ID2K suggested, you need more than time to gel to go from a lottery team to an actual contender. Its as simple as that.

    good point DD.
I never liked the idea of Bosh coming anyway, just don't think he's a guy about winning.
we have great chemistry right now and all we need is just a backup C

    1. He did this in a year where Yao (our best player) didn't even play. Ergo, SOMEONE on this team had to have a big spike in their offensive production (and, please, don't think that I was on the Trevor-is-going-to-save-us bandwagon).

    2. And that's what the award's always been about--whoever has had a biggest spike in production from the previous year. It doesn't take into account what kind of situation the player is in (i.e. his team's best player went down so someone's numbers had to go up)

    3. A most improved player award means nothing. While it's nice that Brooks got recognized, how many of the following MIP winners, are truly, a superstar?

    Danny Granger
    Hedo Turkoglu
    Monta Ellis
    Boris Diaw
    Bobby Simmons
    Zach Randolph
    Gilbert Arenas
    Jermaine O'Neal
    Tracy McGrady
    Jalen Rose
    Darrell Armstrong
    ALanHenderson
    Isaac Austin
    Gheorghe Muresan
    Dana Barros

Granger, ZeBo, Arenas, O'Neal and McGrady are/were superstars but the rest of the list doesn't give you a sense that an MIP winner is definitely on the path to superstardom.

Calling me ignorant because I took a shot at downplaying the MIP award because, well, it's past recipients haven't had a great track record overall? Wow.
