Absolutely not. Not unless someone on the Lakers or Nuggets goes down with an injury(like the year they went to the finals) they won't. Even though Dirk is a great scorer you can't win if your go-to guy is out trying to shoot jumpers from 20 ft. with the game on the line.
They have a chance, but I think the Lakers will ultimately win the West again. I don't like Dallas either, but give them credit, they've been making genuine "win now" moves. Whether you agree with the moves or not, going after Kidd, Marion, and now Butler and Haywood have all been big moves done with a true "win now" mentality in mind unlike the Rockets when they supposedly had the same philosophical approach.
I've watched the Mavericks/Lakers series so far this season and the Mavs match up very well against the Lakers. It would be a close call in a 7 game series - Dirk has been playing great in clutch situations and so has Kobe, so I'm at a stalemate on this. I don't like either team so I won't root for either.
Dirk doesn't just TRY to shoot jumpers from 20ft out... He makes a pretty damn good percentage of them. NBA Hotspots<<<<<<<<<
