So? The Lakers spread word that every player is available for trade outside Kobe. The Celtics openly shops Rondo and Jeff Green. The Mavs open their entire roster for CP3 trade. These are the last 3 NBA champions. Breaking news. EVERY NBA TEAM SHOP THEIR PLAYERS. The good ones, bad ones, everyone. The only reason fans on this board get anal about it is because of some absurd idea that Morey is the only GM willing to make trades to make the team better.
I hope that is true with L.A. giving up some picks.. I think the league is just upset with L.A. and not with Houston/NO about the trade proposal. They want L.A. to be on the hook for a more money.
wtf are you talking about? these are grown men - professionals - not children. they don't need to be coddled. and how do you know that he hadn't approached them already?
If something changes it will be the Hornets taking on less money - and probably the Lakers taking on some bad contracts. How about we don`t include Martin but shop Thabeet to the Lakers? Nah, no way the Hornets would go for that. Maybe if the Lakers include a first rounder.
Guys, some of you may feel this trade either helped or hurt the Rockets team. But, this move that Stern just pulled looks very bad to the NBA as a whole. This isn't the kind of thing that you'd want to happen right after a bitter battle between the union and league. Remember, LA was GIVING talent to get talent. Them being able to land DH after the trade is there own worries and problems to deal with. Nothing about this trade was wrong and if our fans felt we had the short end of the stick, doesn't make this trade any more invalid. LA,HOU,NO all felt that this trade would help help there organization. Everyone wins. The principle of a trade is simple and Stern just made it complicated.

LOL. Your probably right. Talk about conspiracy theory. Stern shot himself in the foot on this one for sure.
This deal will still happen, but they need something that allows them to save face...Ariza going back to LA for instance. DD
No. Not win for everyone. I feel the Rockets gave up too much already. Now a restructuring committee says you have to send more? The teams agreed to what was there. You just cant go in and change the terms and compel certain partners in the trade to agree. I really dont care what Sterns face looks like at this point. If he wants to save some of it, he better apologize to 3 teams and rescind the veto pronto.
It is not about coddling it is about managing egos, and treating people like...well....people.... Being truthful, upfront, and honest, and letting them know so they can plan for their families too. Look, whatever, see how many Players/people want to play for an organization that treats players/people like assets and not human beings. DD
Even if the deal is reversed, there could be some potential consequences due to Stern being an idiot. The scenario I'm speaking of, is Nene doesn't feel like waiting for better deals (perhaps one we could have offered with the cap space) and agrees to sign with another team. Then the next day Stern pulls his head out of his ass and allows the trade, leaving our potential next move to sign what's left of Marc Gasol, Deandre Jordan, and Samuel Dalembert. I like Gasol, but he's restricted and most likely will be matched, Deandre Jordan is also restricted and I can see him commanding 4-5 million less per year than what Nene got which is too much IMO but is moot if he is matched as well, leaving us with probably having to overpay for Dalembert. Thanks David Stern, months of planning out the window because you went on a power trip
This deal is lopsided as hell, Rockets are not going anywhere with Paul at center and not having anything in upcoming draft. I fear though the trade will be tweaked and go through... Look at all the players Hornets get: starting SG in Martin, starting PF in Odom and Scola as a back-up and a back-up SG in Dragic. Lakers get a star PG and Rockets get a player who is not a center at center... Gasol cannot protect the paint, not block shots so what's the point of him @ center ?
Look at the quotes this morning from Stern. It's not happening. He's a stubborn old man drunk with power.
From what I've read, Dell Demps considered resigning after this whole incident. I feel bad for the man, it must be extremely embarrassing. You hire someone to do his job, he did a great job getting value for an exiting superstar just to have someone (not responsible for doing Demps job) reject the deal saying it "wasn't enough". What the heck is a GM in NO suppose to do really?
